You are not your thoughts.
Right now,
Your mind may feel loud,
Thoughts moving quickly,
One after another,
Pulling you into them,
But just for a moment,
I want you to pause and notice something.
If you hear your thoughts,
Then you are not them.
You are the one aware of it.
Let's take a slow breath in and gently exhale.
Let the thoughts be there,
Without trying to stop them.
Imagine sitting beside a river,
Water is flowing.
You are watching leaves float by.
Each leaf is a thought.
Each leaf passes by,
It represents your thought.
You don't chase it,
You don't hold it,
Like the leaves floating in the river and passing by,
You just watch,
Keep watching,
You letting go of the thought.
You know it is your thought,
But you are not chasing after it.
Take another breath in,
Notice how the thoughts come and then go on their own.
You don't have control there,
You don't have to believe them,
You are the space in which they appear,
And in that space is already calm.
Rest here for a moment and when you are ready,
Gently and calmly,
In your own time,
Knowing you are not your thoughts.
