Good morning.
If you chose this meditation,
Perhaps you don't jump out of bed every morning with a spring in your step.
That's okay.
So let's just take a quiet five minutes to wake up gently.
You can sit up in your bed or lie down if you don't think you'll drift off back to sleep.
Sit on the edge of the bed or on the floor,
However you feel most comfortable.
Taking this time first thing in the morning will help set you up for the day.
So start to notice your breathing.
Where do you notice the breath?
Maybe it's in your nostrils or your mouth,
Where the cool air enters and the warm air leaves your body.
Perhaps you notice it in your chest or lower down in your abdomen.
When you've discovered where you feel your breath,
Just stay with it for a minute.
Keep your attention on the breath.
You don't need to change anything,
Just observe the breath as it naturally comes in and out,
Powering up your body.
Just notice as you breathe in and as you breathe out.
You're not trying to change the breath in any way,
You're just noticing,
Observing,
Feeling it happen.
It's natural for your attention to wander away from the breath as you're doing this.
You might find that your thoughts start to drift towards your tasks for the day or future plans.
That's absolutely fine.
Just guide your attention back to the breath whenever it happens.
If you notice yourself thinking,
It's helpful sometimes to label it thinking and just gently guide yourself back to focusing on your breath.
You can do this again and again and again as many times as you like.
So now let's start to bring a little bit more energy into our breathing to get ready for the day.
Whatever the weather's like in real life,
Maybe you can imagine that the day is beautiful.
It's just the right temperature for you,
Whatever that is.
And sunlight is warming you gently,
Giving you energy.
Feel the warmth in your body.
Imagine you're starting to feel comfortably warm and energized all over from your head to your toes.
You're being charged up with this lovely warm calming light and energy.
Take a moment to bathe in this warmth.
Feel like you've built up some power,
Some energy in your body,
Ready to face the day ahead.
Whatever happens today,
You're ready for it.
Whenever you're ready,
You can begin to expand your awareness back out into the room you're in and start to reintroduce some movement into your body.
Wiggling your fingers,
Wriggling your toes,
Taking a deep breath and you can open your eyes ready to start the day with confidence and energy.
I hope you have a lovely day and I'd love to see you back here again very soon.
