Woodpecker Medicine.
Return to your rhythm.
Welcome.
Take a moment to just arise.
Let your body settle in a way that feels supported.
Sitting or laying down.
Hands resting softly.
Jaw unclensing and your shoulders dropping away from the ears.
There is nothing you need to force right now.
There is nothing you need to prove.
And nothing needs to be solved in this moment.
There is just this breath.
Just this body.
Just this gentle return.
Take a slow breath in through the nose.
And let it go softly through the mouth.
Feel the surface beneath you.
The chair,
The floor,
The bed.
What is holding your weight without asking anything from you.
Let yourself be held.
In this place,
In this space that we are right now,
We are going to invite and create a sacred circle.
In your own beautiful way,
We start to open up your space.
Bring your awareness first to the east.
We welcome eagle.
Clear sight,
Higher perspective and the breath of morning.
Then bring your awareness to the south.
Where we welcome jaguar.
Quiet power,
Clean boundaries and deep protection.
Do we bring our awareness to the west.
Where we welcome whale.
The great waters,
The wisdom of feelings and ancient song.
And then we bring our awareness to the north.
Where we welcome wolf.
With steadiness and instinct.
Wise direction and loyal heart.
Which leads us to bring our awareness to the above.
Where we welcome dragon.
Sacred fire,
Divine protection and bright blessings.
From here we bring our awareness below.
Where we welcome serpent.
Earth wisdom,
Grounded presence and healing of our body.
Feel this circle around you.
Alive and gentle,
Protective.
A sacred space where your nervous system can soften and your spirit can listen.
Take one more slow breath in and when you exhale,
Into the circle.
Just let it move.
Imagine yourself in a quiet forest.
It may be early morning or late afternoon.
That soft hour when light comes through the trees in long golden threads.
The air is cool and kind.
And you walk slowly along the forest path.
And the ground beneath your feet is soft with leaves and moss.
There is no hurry here.
No pressure.
No one is asking you to be faster than your body wants to be.
As you begin to walk,
You also begin to hear a sound in the tree.
Tap tap.
Tap tap.
And then there is stillness.
And then again.
Tap tap.
Tap tap.
A steady knocking.
Not loud,
Not harsh,
But clear.
The sound of a woodpecker.
Just pause now and let your body listen.
Notice what happens inside you as you hear the rhythm in the forest.
Tap tap.
Tap tapping beat calling scattered energy home.
And if your thoughts has been racing,
If your energy has felt pulled into many directions,
If you have been trying to carry too much at once,
Let the rhythm of the woodpecker begin to gather you.
Not by force,
But by pattern.
Not by urgency,
But by steadiness.
And in your own time,
You see woodpecker on a trunk of a tree.
Beautiful,
Focused,
And present.
Maybe you notice the colors,
The shape of the body.
The way it braces itself so skillfully against the bark.
The alertness,
The precision,
The calm determination.
Woodpecker is not wasting energy.
It is listening,
Sensing,
And choosing where to place the effort.
Take a moment to simply be in its present.
And then in your heart,
Make space for greeting woodpecker with respect.
This invitation to say silently,
Woodpecker,
Thank you for being here.
Please help me return to my rhythm.
And see if the woodpecker offers you anything.
A feeling,
A word,
An image,
A sense in the body,
Or simply the medicine of the presence.
There's no right way to receive.
Woodpecker does not hide its presence.
It makes a clear sound in the forest.
Not to fight,
Not to perform,
But to communicate.
To say,
I am here.
This is my space.
This is my rhythm.
And let that medicine reach the places in you where boundaries have felt tired,
Or blurred,
Or difficult to solve.
Maybe there is a place in your life where you have been over-giving,
Over-explaining,
Or staying available beyond what is kind to your body.
And let woodpecker stand beside you here.
Offering you one clear,
Simple boundary sound.
A steady signal from your truth.
It may sound like,
Not now.
This is enough.
I need rest.
Yes,
Okay,
But slowly.
No.
I choose what is right for me.
I will answer when I'm ready.
You do not need a dramatic boundary to be safe.
You need a true one.
And let your body feel that.
Take a breath in.
And on the exhale,
Imagine your boundary settling into place like roots on a tree.
Steady,
Natural,
And alive.
Woodpecker returns the tree and taps one more.
Tap,
Tap.
Tap,
Tap.
And you understand something simple and sacred.
You do not have to do everything today.
You do not have to solve your whole life in one sitting.
You only need the next true steps.
The next honest breath.
The next small act in the right direction.
And that is enough.
And if it feels right,
You can ask,
What is one place in my life that needs standing?
With a steady attention,
Not by force.
And just listen.
Trust whatever comes through,
Even if it's quiet.
Even if it's just a feeling of where to begin.
And then think,
Woodpecker for its medicine.
For its rhythm.
For the focus.
For the signal.
For the wisdom of steady effort.
You see the woodpecker in the tree.
Strong,
Precise,
Alive in its purpose.
And know that this rhythm is available for you too.
Take a slow breath in through the nose.
And a soft exhale out the mouth.
Begin to feel your body again in the room.
The weight of you.
The support beneath you.
The air on your skin.
And before we close,
Feel the sacred circle around you once more.
Eagle in the east.
Jaguar in the south.
Whale in the west and wolf in the north.
Dragon above and serpent below.
Thank you for holding this space.
As this medicine and this meditation is settling into you,
May you move through your day or into your rest with a gentler pace.
A clearer signal and a steady heart.
With each gentle knock,
May you return to your own sacred rhythm.
And so it is.
Welcome back.
And welcome home.
