Hi everyone and welcome to day 9 of learning to breathe with Carrie Joy of Sagewood Wellness.
Wow,
I am so proud of your journey so far.
This has been a great recap for anyone who's turned into loving breath work or anyone who's just beginning.
So day 9,
Today we are working on alternate nostril breathing.
So what this means is we will be taking our fingers,
We'll have our pointer finger and our middle finger straight.
We will have our pinky and ring finger together and we will have our thumb.
So what this does is balance our nadis.
So we have three nadis in our body.
We have the Ida Nadi,
The Pingala Nadi and the Shushumna Nadi.
So this brings everything centered.
Alternate nostril breathing is a wonderful,
Wonderful balancing exercise.
It is also really good for balancing our right and left hemispheres of our brain.
So we're going to come into a nice comfortable seat.
We're going to tune into our breathing.
Just our regular breath cycle.
Just our inhale through the nose and exhale through the nose.
We're going to bring our hands up.
We're going to bring our fingers together,
Placing our pointer and middle finger on our bridge of our nose.
And then we're kind of going to tuck those other two fingers to the right and one to the left.
One to the right and two to the left.
So as we practice,
First off,
We are going to plug our left nostril.
I'm going to sound a little funny here.
And we're going to breathe in through our right.
We're going to plug our right nostril.
We're going to exhale through our left nostril.
And then inhale through our left nostril.
And then we're going to plug our left nostril,
Exhale through our right nostril.
From here,
We're inhaling through our right nostril.
And exhaling through our left nostril.
Inhaling through our left nostril.
Plug left nostril and exhale through the right.
Again,
Plugging or inhaling through right nostril.
Plugging left or right nostril and exhaling through left nostril.
Inhaling through left nostril.
Plugging left nostril and exhaling through right nostril.
Inhale through right nostril.
Exhale through left nostril.
Inhale through left nostril.
Exhale through right nostril.
Inhale through right nostril.
And exhale through left nostril.
Inhale through left nostril.
Exhale through right nostril.
From here,
We are going to plug both nostrils after we inhale.
Retaining our breath.
Opening both nostrils and exhaling.
So really just seeing where you are post-practice.
Finding your natural breath cycle.
Allowing movement into those fingers and those toes while you observe your practice.
Knowing that you can come back to this at any time.
Notice the temperature of the air on your skin.
And whenever you are ready,
You may open your eyes.
Thank you so much for joining me on Day 9.
I look forward to seeing you on Day 10.
Have a wonderful day.
