Hi,
Thanks for joining me.
I'm Laura Stuckel from Team SAGE,
Your guide for this journal writing meditation.
In this future self-write,
We'll journey ahead one season of the year,
Or you may call it one quarter.
We'll take a peek at the future to empower you to create a meaningful vision and set realistic goals to get you there.
To begin,
Make sure you have a comfortable place to sit for a few moments with your favorite pen and journal or laptop nearby for writing.
When the entrance meditation is done,
I'll silently end the session so you can go right into your journal writing.
You'll probably want to write for five to eight minutes once the entrance meditation concludes.
Setting a timer actually distracts the everyday thinking part of your brain and encourages the more intuitive side of the brain to take the pen.
You may wish to set an alarm now for five minutes and hold it for the writing portion of this activity.
One more note,
When you're done writing,
Be sure to reread what you have written and write a reflection.
Tapping the wisdom within you comes from each reflection,
Perhaps an observation of a feeling or noticing any tension or even energy in your body.
Perhaps you are aware of some sort of follow-up action.
You may wish to write the word reread and reflect at the top of your page now as a reminder to conclude with a reflection write.
As we begin,
Remember that this future self-write is a way to explore your possibilities one season ahead in time.
Let's start.
Take a moment to get comfortable.
Shake your hands,
Roll your neck or wiggle your toes.
Now relax,
Close your eyes and take three deep,
Slow breaths on your own count.
As you take the last deep breath in,
Hold and release.
Continue to relax in your body and your breathing.
As you do,
Imagine yourself in a calm and serene setting.
In this place,
You can appreciate the changing of the seasons.
With gratitude,
You can appreciate the season that is just completed and you begin to open to the season or the quarter that is just beginning.
You find yourself enjoying what's ahead in this unfolding season from all five of your senses.
Hold the name of this coming season in your mind,
Whether you name it as winter,
Spring,
Summer or fall or as quarter one,
Quarter two or so on.
Sit with the name of the season that is beginning right now.
Begin to notice the trees and plants,
The animals and the sky of this season.
Begin to feel and appreciate the sensations from the weather of this new season upon your face and your skin.
Listen for the sounds that stand out to you from this season.
Notice the smells.
Now take a moment to appreciate the foods and tastes that are grown or celebrated in this season as it unfolds to you.
With the experience of your senses,
Begin to envision the next three months ahead for you.
Allow yourself to see a calendar.
You are looking at this calendar on day one of a new season.
Inhale and with your breath,
Take in the possibilities for the season ahead.
Three months,
12 weeks,
90 days of opportunity.
And in your imagination,
Begin to turn the pages forward.
And as the pages advance,
You watch as the dates progress.
You notice as the weather changes.
You take in each month as it unfolds.
And in this progression of the season ahead,
You take in the people,
The places,
The events,
The memories,
The lessons.
Until you reach the final page of the calendar 90 days from today.
And now you begin to observe yourself in space and time as you are three months from now.
You are a bit wiser.
Your energies,
Relationships,
Projects,
Activities have all shifted in big and in small ways.
Take note of the journey you traveled.
You can recall the most enjoyable parts.
The challenging spots.
The lessons you learned.
And as you review this last season,
You notice how you are on that last day.
How you live,
How you spend your time and your energy.
The challenges that are just ahead.
The opportunities that are now in view.
The parts of your life that make it joyful.
Stay there observing your future self 90 days from today as long as you like.
Viewing the you that is at the end of the season.
When you are ready,
Take a deep breath.
Open your eyes.
Create your journal entry for 90 days from today and begin to write.
