
Grounding Earth Meditation
If you are constantly feeling overwhelmed or imbalanced, this meditation will help you connect to the grounding energy of the earth. Earth's healing energy will resettle your energetic body and bring calm to your being.
Transcript
This meditation will help you become more grounded,
Like the earth itself.
If you've been feeling scattered,
Overwhelmed,
Or lost in thoughts,
This meditation will help you ground into the earth,
Just like grounding an electric circuit.
Please find a comfortable position,
Sitting or lying down,
And close your eyes.
Take a nice big inhalation through your nose and hold,
Then exhale out of your mouth.
Again,
Inhale through your nose,
Hold for a moment,
And if you'd like with a sound,
Exhale out of your mouth.
One more time,
Inhale through the nose,
Hold,
And if there's any tension in your torso,
Neck,
Or shoulders,
Exhale it out of your mouth.
Now close your mouth and breathe gently in and out of your nose at your own pace.
Right now,
You are on the earth.
The earth is a massive being orbiting through space,
And you are a very small being on the surface of the earth.
As you continue to breathe gently and easily in and out of your nose,
Allow your attention to notice the points of contact between your body and whatever surface you happen to be on.
Notice what you feel at these points of contact.
This is the force of gravity on your body.
It is always there,
Pulling you towards the center of the earth.
The earth is always beneath you.
Now bring your attention up to your head.
See if you can notice the pull of gravity on your skull.
See if you can notice the pull of gravity on your brain.
If you're not sure,
Just imagine you could.
And see if you can simply perceive how heavy your head is.
If you've been feeling ungrounded,
It could mean you've had too much energy floating upwards.
We can bring this energy down simply by noticing the force of gravity.
Continue breathing gently and easily,
And see if you can notice the weight of your jawbone.
You may notice that you can more deeply release any muscles holding onto your jaw.
Very often we resist gravity.
We resist the earth's pull when we really don't need to.
As you breathe gently and easily,
You can bring your attention down towards your neck.
There are seven bones,
The cervical vertebrae,
In your neck.
Can you notice the pull of gravity on these bones?
Can you allow the muscles in your neck to more deeply release?
Can you allow your energy to be pulled down towards the center of the earth?
Now allow your attention to gently move down to your shoulders.
You can notice the pull of gravity on your shoulders.
You can notice how gravity pulls on your collarbone.
Notice if you can perceive the weight of your collarbone.
You can notice how gravity pulls on your ribcage.
And you can notice how gravity is a powerful force and yet still gentle enough to allow you to breathe,
Allowing your ribs to gently expand as they need to and contract as you breathe in and out.
Notice the weight of your arms.
Your upper arms,
The bone in the muscles,
Your lower arms,
And even your hands.
See if you can notice the weight of the individual little bones in your hands.
Now see if you can allow your arms and your hands to become heavier.
You can imagine that you can turn a dial and increase the gravity on your arms and your hands,
Allowing your arms to feel heavier and heavier as you become more and more relaxed.
You may notice that this feeling feels good.
It feels good to let the earth support you for a while.
It feels good to connect to the energy of the earth.
Bring your attention now to your belly.
Let gravity hold your organs.
Imagine you could allow your organs to sink lower and lower inside of your body.
And you can allow any tension in this part of your body to release.
Any tension that maybe was holding your organs when it really didn't need to.
See if you can sense how much your organs weigh.
And even if you don't think you can,
Just imagine that you could,
Noticing the pull of gravity on the individual parts inside of your body.
As you breathe gently and easily through your nose,
You can move your attention down to your pelvic area.
Your pelvis is a large bone that definitely has a weight.
Your pelvic area also has a lot of tissue and organs that can also give in to gravity.
Notice the force of gravity on your pelvic area.
If you're sitting,
Notice the point of contact between your sits bones and your seat.
And either way,
Notice the weight of this part of your body and see if you can allow it to feel heavier and heavier as you surrender more and more to the feeling of gravity.
As you surrender more and more to the energy of the earth.
Now notice the weight of your thighs.
See if you can sense the weight of your femurs.
See if you can notice the weight of your leg muscles.
Can you more deeply release any tension that may be in them?
Can you surrender even more to gravity,
Allowing your legs to feel heavier and heavier,
Allowing them to sink deeper and deeper into the earth.
Let your attention move down lower into your lower legs,
Allowing your calves to release,
Letting the bones of your lower legs become heavier and heavier as well,
Letting your energy sink lower and lower in your body.
And finally,
We move to your feet.
Your feet are your primary connection point with the ground.
Your feet are your primary point for grounding.
They are a very sensitive part of the body as they are a terminal for your energy.
As you breathe,
Gently and easily,
Notice the pull of gravity on your feet.
See if you can notice the weight of all these little bones in your feet.
And you can imagine an energetic opening in the center of each foot.
Imagine this opening,
Opening wider,
So that any time during any day you can exchange energy with the earth.
Now bring your attention to your entire body,
Of your bones,
Your entire skeleton,
From the crown of your head down to the soles of your feet.
Notice the force of gravity on your skeleton.
See if you can perceive the weight of all of your bones.
And once again,
Imagine you can turn up the gravity dial.
Imagine you can increase the feeling of gravity on your bones,
Allowing yourself to feel heavier and heavier as you become more and more relaxed,
Sinking deeper and deeper towards the earth.
Feel the feeling of gravity and feel the earth beneath you.
And see if you can feel what it's like to be the earth,
To be a massive rock floating effortlessly through space,
To have an uncountable number of beings attached to you by your force of gravity.
Can you be such a rock?
The earth never needs to try to do anything.
It simply exists,
And yet all things are done upon it.
When one feels ungrounded,
It's usually because something is out of balance.
Usually there's an excess of what we could call air energy,
Thoughts,
Ideas,
And perceptions of things beyond one's immediate location in time and space.
Whereas the earth,
The earth just is.
The earth just exists in the now,
Attracting other beings through its powerful grounding force of gravity.
Your earth energy is that which simply exists in this present moment,
Allowing life to happen around you.
There is nothing you need to do that is beyond you.
Continue breathing gently and easily,
Feeling your body,
Feeling gravity.
And as you go about your day today,
Remember that at any point in any situation,
You can reconnect to the energy of the earth,
This energy of grounding.
At any point in any situation,
You can give yourself to the feeling of gravity.
At any point,
You can exchange unwanted feelings of overwhelmed,
Chaotic thoughts,
Or excess energy for the calming feeling of the earth.
The earth is happy to make that exchange with you.
All you have to do is breathe and allow gravity to hold you.
