Welcome friends to this mindful eating meditation.
I'm Rukmini.
In Ayurveda,
We want to give thanks to the food we eat.
We will keep this meditation short so that your meal does not get cold and should be used just before eating.
So sit down and lose all distractions,
Including the television.
Close your eyes and I invite you to hover your hands over your meal.
Take a deep inhale and pull all of the aromas from your meal into your body.
Feel your breath all the way down to your stomach and notice your stomach in this moment.
And now bring what is on your plate into your mind and think about all the people involved in getting your meal to you right now.
If there is meat on your plate,
Thank the animal that gave up its life for you.
And now bring all the farmers who grew the vegetables and grains,
The people who did the tireless backbreaking work of picking all of this,
Washing,
Separating,
And bringing it to you either through the farmers market or a supermarket.
Bring to mind all the truckers,
Grocers,
And people who sold you your food and the people that benefited from that.
And finally,
Thank the one who prepared this for you,
Even if it's you.
Inhale the aromas again.
Open your eyes and slowly bite by bite.
Enjoy the incredible bounty you have been blessed with.
Eat slowly,
Chew well,
And enjoy.
Thank you for listening.
