Hello and welcome.
I am Roseanne,
Your host and guide.
In today's meditation,
I am inspired by the clear skies that we've been having at night,
And the bright stars that never fail to bring wonder and awe to me.
As humans,
We're never bored by a night sky that reveals the heavens to us.
For the human mind,
The stars have always held magic and mystery.
As children,
We even learnt that they may hold the power to grant wishes.
Stars are representations of the powers that exist in the heavens and on earth.
They tell of a time even older than the planet we live on,
Of the geology we can see around us.
They serve as a nightly reminder that the universe is vast,
Yet they are draped in the lore of our ancestors,
So we'll never feel that we're all alone.
Babylonians,
Egyptians,
Greeks,
And all ancient societies around the world and throughout history have all told stories about how the stars were created.
And they peopled the night skies with the spirits of ancestors,
With heroes who had much to teach about life on earth.
Orion and his dogs,
Canis Major and Canis Minor,
The great bear of Ursa Major,
Perseus and Andromeda,
Cassiopeia.
The stars have always held answers to questions about who we are,
And the constellations we have shaped from them have helped us navigate our lives on this planet,
In a real physical way as guidance during long journeys,
And as a means of knowing when to plant seeds and when to harvest,
As well as a metaphorical way offering myths to influence our actions and shape our character.
Today we'll expand our awareness beyond the self,
Reaching into the vast cosmos and connecting with the wisdom of the stars and our ancestors.
As we breathe in the endless sky above,
We remember that we too are part of this great cosmic dance,
Woven into the fabric of the universe itself.
So find a comfortable place to sit or lie down.
Allow your body to settle,
Releasing any tension with each breath.
Close your eyes and bring your awareness inwards.
Feel the gentle rhythm of your breath,
Steady and constant,
Like the cycles of the heavens.
With each inhale you draw in space and light.
With each exhale you release all that is heavy,
All that is small.
You are infinite.
Imagine yourself standing beneath the vast,
Clear night sky.
The stars above you are radiant,
Ancient,
And unchanging.
These lights have shone for millennia,
Watching over the earth,
Over all those who came before you and over you now.
Feel their presence,
Not distant but near.
They are not separate from you.
They pulse with the same energy that moves through your being.
That same stardust that formed these celestial bodies runs in your veins.
You are not just looking at the stars,
You are the stars.
And now,
As you continue to breathe softly,
Deeply,
Allow yourself to feel the presence of those who walked this earth before you.
Your ancestors,
Known and unknown.
They have gazed upon these same stars,
Asked the same questions,
Wondered about the same mysteries.
They are here with you,
Watching over you,
Just as they have always been.
Picture a soft golden light surrounding you.
Warm,
Protective.
Allow it to envelop you.
Because this is the love,
Wisdom,
And the strength of those who came before.
They whisper encouragement into your heart.
They remind you that you are never alone.
Take a moment to ask your ancestors,
Your guides,
The universe itself.
What wisdom do you have for me today?
Be open to how the answer comes.
It may be a feeling,
A word,
An image,
Or simply a deep knowing within you.
There's no right or wrong,
Only the message meant for you.
What wisdom do you have for me today?
And as you absorb this connection,
Allow gratitude to fill your being.
Gratitude for the stars.
For the wisdom passed down through generations.
For the journey you're on.
As you are a luminous thread in this great cosmic web.
Part of something far beyond what the mind can grasp,
But what the soul deeply knows.
You are how the universe experiences itself.
So when you feel ready,
Slowly bring your awareness back into your body.
Beautiful though it is to be up in the universe,
In the cosmos,
With the stars.
We are human,
Granted.
Earthly.
So wiggle your toes,
Your fingers.
Feel the weight of yourself on the ground.
Take a deep breath.
Feel your body respond.
And carry this sense of belonging and wisdom with you as you move through your day.
You're never alone.
The universe,
The stars and the love of those before you walk beside you always.
When you feel ready,
Gently open your eyes.
Om Shanti.
