Highlights

  • An extraordinary opportunity to be in the presence of Tibetan Buddhist monk Geshe Lama Ahbay Tulku Rinpoche for wisdom teachings and blessings.

Details

We are delighted to welcome Tibetan Buddhist monk Geshe Lama Ahbay Tulku Rinpoche to Cornwall for an uplifting weekend of mantras, wisdom teachings and blessings. Rinpoche was recognised by His Holiness the Dalai Lama as the reincarnation of the hermit Lama Ahbay Lobsang Tenzin Rinpoche. He is head of Yega Choling Monastery and carries responsibility for a community of monks living in exile in South India. Ahbay Rinpoche gives so much to everyone he meets as he travels the world, sharing teachings of loving kindness, compassion and peace, alongside his infectious laughter. You are warmly welcome to join us for the whole weekend, or for one or two individual sessions. We also have a small number of beautiful rooms available for those who would like to make a retreat of it, with sea views, delicious meals and space to walk, rest and contemplate. He is currently on a tour of the UK sharing his teachings and blessings to benefit as many sentient beings as he can. We warmly invite you to make the time to experience this rare and precious opportunity to meet with him and share with all your friends and loved ones. Rinpoche will share his deceptively simple, yet extraordinarily powerful wisdom teachings on how to live a happy and meaningful life by applying highly practical and logical antidotes to the day-to-day negative emotions that can arise in us. He will share a powerful group blessing for the health, happiness and wellbeing of all present. In Tibetan Buddhism, Green Tara, the Medicine Buddha and the Compassion Buddha each embody different qualities of awakening, courage, healing, compassion, wisdom and freedom from fear. Their mantras are sacred phrases carried through repetition. We chant them as a way of gathering the mind, opening the heart and coming into relationship with the quality each practice holds. Across the weekend, Rinpoche will share the stories and meaning behind these practices and guide us through mantra, meditation, contemplation and blessing. You do not need to be Buddhist or have any previous experience. You can come simply as you are, listen, chant, be still, and experience what the practice brings.

Schedule

Friday Evening, Saturday Full Day Retreat and Sunday Morning. Wisdom teaching and blessings with Rinpoche. Hosted by Amisha. Ahbay Rinpoche was born in Darjeeling, India, in 1973 (in exile from Tibet), and in 1980, when he was seven years old, he became a monk at Gaden Jangtse Monastery in South India. After 2 years of being at the Monastery at 9 years old, in 1982, he took vows to become fully initiated into monkhood under the tutor of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, Khabche Ling Rinpoche who gave him the name Thupten Tendar. In 1985, when he was twelve, His Holiness the Dalai Lama recognised him as the reincarnation of the hermit Lama Ahbay Lobsang Tenzin Rinpoche, who lived in a cave and was famous for his supernatural powers. In the same year, he was enthroned as Lama Ahbay Tulku Rinpoche Jigme Thupten Tendar in the Gaden Jangtse Monastery in South India. He is currently fundraising and building a Monastery that will house, feed, clothe and educate his monks up to a university standard so they may carry on his excellent work sharing how to live a peaceful and harmonious life with people around the world. The Monastery will also help house, feed and clothe many Tibetan refugees in exile and provide a welcoming prayer and retreat space for Rinpoche's global friends and Sangha. He has inherited full responsibility for the Yega Choling Monastery and its monks. From the age of 13 to 35 years old (1986 to 2008), Ahbay Tulku Rinpoche studied in depth the 5 major texts of Sutra Tibetan Buddhism philosophy within the Gelupa lineage. Then, at 36 years old, he attained a Geshe degree, which is a doctorate of Buddhist philosophy (PhD). After becoming a Geshe he studied Tantric Buddhist philosophy for a further year at Guymed Tantric Monastery University. Geshe Lama Ahbay Tulku Rinpoche travels the world to share his teachings and blessings at the invitation of friends and students and is much loved by all who meet him. In these times of great turbulence, his gentle, approachable nature and great sense of humour enhance his ability to bring life-changing experiences to all who have the good fortune to meet with him. All profits from this event will go directly to Rinpoche and the continuation of his work. If you feel called to donate more, here is his go fund me.
