  • Curated local experiences, including a fresh water mangrove swim and Mayan sea picnic in the ocean

Details

Exhale is for you if you’ve been holding a lot — mentally, emotionally, or physically — and haven’t had the space to fully let it land or move through. This retreat is intentionally designed to support a shift out of that constant state of doing, managing, and pushing through… and into a place where your body can finally soften. Through a blend of meditation, breathwork, and gentle movement, you’ll be guided into practices that help regulate your nervous system and bring you back into a steadier, more grounded state. At the same time, there is plenty of space woven throughout for rest, reflection, and simply being — without needing to fill your time. The environment itself plays a role in that shift. Sisal is quiet, open, and unhurried — making it easier to disconnect from external noise and start listening inward again. You don’t need to arrive feeling a certain way or ready to “do the work.” This space meets you where you are — and supports you in leaving with a greater sense of calm, clarity, and connection, along with simple practices you can carry into your everyday life.

Location

Sisal, Mexico

Sisal is a quiet seaside village on the Gulf of Mexico known for its laid-back atmosphere, unspoiled beaches, and rich natural surroundings. Once an important colonial port for exporting henequen, today it feels peaceful and untouched, with pastel houses, small fishing boats, and a strong connection to local traditions. The area is surrounded by mangroves and wetlands that are home to flamingos, sea turtles, and diverse birdlife, making it especially appealing for nature lovers. With calm waters, soft white sand, and vivid sunsets over the gulf, Sisal offers a serene escape that feels far removed from the busier tourist hubs of the Yucatán.

Casa Karuna is built on concrete piles that raise it from the natural terrain to allow the passage of local wildlife, the wastewater treatment system is based on biodigestors, therefore we take care NOT to deposit toilet paper in the toilets. We separate the garbage, recyclable materials, inorganic waste and with the organic waste we make our compost to fertilize the plants. The kitchen has a grease trap to prevent these from reaching the groundwater table and thus avoid contamination. We use handmade biodegradable detergents and soaps to keep the environment clean and healthy. The house has a covered terrace on the ground level and an outdoor terrace in the pool area, where there is also a bar to serve any type of drink that guests desire.

Meals

Meals provided

Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner

Diets catered

Vegan · Vegetarian · Dairy-free

Meals will be freshly prepared on-site, with a focus on simple, nourishing food that feels supportive, balanced, and easy on the body. The menu will centre around whole, fresh ingredients and lighter meals that leave you feeling sustained and energized — rather than heavy — so you can fully enjoy both the practices and your time to rest. While meals are not strictly vegan or vegetarian, there will be a variety of options available. We will do our best to accommodate common dietary needs where possible, and you’ll be invited to share any preferences or restrictions in advance. Overall, the food is designed to complement the rhythm of the retreat — grounding, satisfying, and supportive of how you want to feel throughout your stay.

Schedule

Each day follows a gentle, spacious rhythm designed to support both guided practice and time to rest, integrate, and simply be. Mornings begin with optional meditation, breathwork, and mindful movement to help you arrive into your body and set the tone for the day. From there, there is plenty of open time to spend as you choose — whether that’s resting, walking by the ocean, connecting with others, or taking time alone. Afternoons remain unstructured or include optional group experiences, allowing for a natural balance between connection and personal space. Evenings are devoted to slower, more restorative practices such as yin, guided meditation, or breathwork — offering an opportunity to unwind, settle the nervous system, and move into a deeper state of rest. The schedule is intentionally not overfilled. You’re invited to participate in what feels supportive, and to honour what your body is asking for throughout your stay.
