Welcome to a practice for grounding and empowerment.
Feel free to sit or lie down and allow yourself to get settled and perhaps start with your eyes open and really notice your space and place in present time.
Notice the quality of the light,
The air.
Can you hear anything or smell anything?
Notice all the places that your body meets the chair,
Couch,
Bed or floor and just allowing yourself to be supported without any resistance.
Maybe take a couple long,
Slow in-breaths to relax your body and perhaps noticing any places of tightness or tension and drawing the breath into any tightness or tension and releasing it on your exhale.
Maybe rolling your shoulders,
Slackening your jaw,
Flexing your hands and feet,
Each breath bringing you more present and more grounded in your own body,
Knowing it's safe to do this and that being conscious and present in your body is the safest,
Most empowered place to be and perhaps intentionally bringing our awareness out of our head and mind and down into our throat,
Chest,
Abdomen and hips and just bringing awareness to our body.
Gently releasing any narratives or stories or judgments and just noticing with openness and curiosity and self-compassion how the body feels right now.
Nothing to do,
Nowhere to go,
Just noticing and observing our breathing in and out.
You might even become aware of the heartbeat or the subtle tingling of the life force that flows through our entire system or you might not and just as the lungs are always breathing,
The heart is always beating,
Our cells are metabolizing and our digestion is digesting,
The mind is always generating thoughts,
Chatter and ideas and perhaps you can sense or feel or imagine turning the volume down if there is inner chatter,
The mind does mind stuff just like the digestion does digestive stuff and we don't have to give it our attention right now.
We're going to bring our awareness more fully into our body and our connection to the earth.
Noticing that we are held to the earth by gravity.
The earth hugs us to her every moment,
An inseparable bond with Mother Earth and as you sense or feel or imagine the gentle constant grounding pull of gravity,
Perhaps feeling a slight heaviness in your own form,
Again really feeling your body in the chair,
Bed,
Floor or couch and I wonder if you can sense or feel or imagine that your body grows roots down into the earth,
It doesn't need to make any sense.
Noticing where these roots run from your body down into Mother Earth,
Deep grounding roots.
Notice how deeply these roots want to grow,
Growing,
Deepening,
Expanding to the perfect depth for you.
These roots might run all the way to the earth's core or they might not.
And you might notice how it feels in your body to open to this possibility of grounding in this way.
Rooting,
Connecting,
Relaxing.
And I wonder if you can sense or feel or imagine receiving and releasing through these roots,
Just like we receive and release with our breath every moment.
And you might even imagine,
Sense or feel that you can breathe in and out through these roots,
Receiving from the earth,
Life energy or life force and releasing what's no longer needed.
And as you receive and release in this way,
Roots may continue to grow and expand or they might not.
And just noticing how it feels in your body to be connected,
Present,
Solid,
Relaxed in this way.
Each breath allowing you to become more present,
More relaxed,
More connected,
More empowered than before.
And just as oxygen nourishes every cell of our body every moment,
Perhaps you can sense or feel or imagine the life force flowing through these grounding roots,
All the way up to the crown of your head,
Out to the tips of your fingers,
Down to the soles of your feet,
Filling,
Infusing,
Nourishing,
Supporting,
Connecting,
And grounding every cell and system,
Layer and level of your being.
There's nowhere to go and nothing to do but just to be fully present in this process right now.
Notice how it feels in your body to receive and release and to ground and connect in this way.
Knowing that this connection is always available to you,
Whether alone or with others,
Busy or at rest,
You can bring your awareness into your body,
Bring awareness to these grounding roots,
Or reestablish,
Renew,
Or regrow this connection at any time,
And that you'll easily and naturally have awareness of this indivisible connection with the Earth This is a source and a resource of grounding and empowerment,
Peace and presence that is available to you always.
Feel free to stay in this resting and receiving place as long as you like.
