To begin,
Perhaps find a place to sit or lie down.
Shut off any distractions and make yourself comfortable.
When you feel ready,
Close your eyes.
And I wonder if you can sense,
Feel or imagine a presence of peace or relaxation in the room.
And that you can draw this peace or relaxation into your body with your breath.
And perhaps on your next in-breath,
You can draw this peace or relaxation into your head and face and neck.
Slackening your jaw,
Releasing the tiny muscles around your eyes,
Allowing your tongue to rest gently against the roof of your mouth.
Relaxing your ears and perhaps even relaxing your hair.
And on your next in-breath,
I wonder if you can draw this deep relaxation into your shoulders and arms,
Flowing down to your wrists and hands,
All the way to the tips of your fingers.
You might notice a slight tingling as this peace or relaxation reaches the tips of your fingers or you might not.
And on your next in-breath,
I wonder if you can draw this peace and relaxation into your chest cavity,
Filling your lungs,
Expanding your rib cage.
And you might take a moment and notice how your heart feels to be surrounded and enfolded in this deep peace and relaxation.
Deep peace moves through your pulmonary system,
Through your veins,
Begins to circulate to every cell and system of your body.
And perhaps on your next in-breath,
You can draw this peace or relaxation down into your belly,
To your organs of digestion,
Elimination,
And reproduction,
Allowing them all a soothing bath of deep relaxation and peace.
Perhaps on your next in-breath,
Drawing this relaxation down into your hips and pelvis,
To your buttocks and genitals,
And flowing down into your legs,
Your quads and hamstrings,
Your femur and knees,
Into your shins and calves,
Flowing down to your ankles and into your feet and all the bones and muscles of your feet,
Right to the tips of your toes.
And again,
You might notice us like tingling as the peace or relaxation reaches your toes,
Or you might not.
And continuing to breathe this deep peace and relaxation into your body,
Allowing it to flow wherever it wants to flow,
Breathing into any places of tightness,
Tension,
Or tenderness,
This gentle,
Soothing peace and relaxation.
With each breath becoming even more relaxed.
And I wonder if you can sense or feel or imagine that your body becomes so infused with deep peace that perhaps it even emanates from your pores and creates a cloud or a cocoon around you,
Surrounding,
Supporting,
And folding you in a safe and gentle blanket of deep peace.
There's nowhere to go and nothing to do in this moment right now,
But to be fully present in your body,
Resting in deep relaxation.
And I wonder if you can imagine,
Sense or feel that this peace gathers to create a sun or a star at the top of your head.
And you can draw the light from this sun or star into your mind,
Into your brain,
Allowing your conscious mind a well-deserved rest.
Perhaps on your next in-breath,
You can draw the light from this sun or star into your forebrain,
Your midbrain,
Your brainstem,
Flowing into your cerebral spinal fluid and flowing down your spinal column vertebrae by vertebrae.
Down,
Down,
Down,
All the way to the tip of your tailbone and bringing your entire nervous system into perfect balance for this moment right now.
And you can rest in this place of peace for as long as you like.
