I promise now.
Self-care is the cornerstone of personal growth.
We cannot give what we haven't got.
And when we try to,
The outcomes are rarely beneficial to us.
Giving without replenishing one's own stores eventually leads to depletion,
Exhaustion,
Confusion and low self-worth.
Self-care does not mean we become selfish,
Because selfishness equally robs us of energy and our potential.
Selfishness is blind and pursues its own needs at any cost.
Self-care,
On the other hand,
Realises it is possible to both meet one's own needs and extend the hand of love and kindness to others.
In fact,
Doing this is to care for oneself.
When we treat others the way we wish to be treated,
We are automatically nourished.
In order that we can rise up and fulfil our potential,
We need a set of non-negotiables.
Non-negotiables are a set of pledges and promises that we make to ourselves.
These are pledges and promises that we're not willing to break and will do everything in our power to fulfil.
For any promise to qualify as a non-negotiable,
We need to be practising it at least 80% of the time.
It's at that point that the momentum of that promise carries us on its back to our destination.
So if you want to be the very best version of yourself,
Draw up a contract of love,
Clearly listing your pledges,
Your promises to yourself,
And then,
With every breath you take,
Passionately and sincerely take the necessary actions to ensure your promises are not broken.
For each one of us,
The promises we need to make will be different.
That said,
There are some promises that apply to us all.
As you hear each of the following pledges,
Recite them in your mind in a heartfelt way.
The more sincere our intentions are,
The more the outcomes we seek will knock on our doors,
Delivering their promises in return.
I promise now not to harm myself with negative thoughts and feelings.
I promise now that when old unwanted patterns emerge,
I will take note of their lessons,
But I will let the negativity go.
I promise now to immerse my mind in positive uplifting rituals.
I promise now to establish positive routines that will support me in all my endeavors.
I promise now to make my mind a sanctuary of peace,
A place that I'll decorate with positive thoughts and feelings each day.
I promise now to use my mind not only to uplift me,
But to uplift those around me.
I promise now to love and respect my body and treat it as a vessel that kindly supports me through life.
I promise now to pay attention and meet the many and varied needs of my body.
I promise now to look at all aspects of my life and where I find contradiction,
I will do my best to erase it.
I promise now to live a life where I embrace my ambivalence and lovingly accept those areas which still need to grow.
I promise now to perform at least one act of kindness every day.
I promise now to help those less fortunate than myself whenever I can.
I promise now to keep my promises to myself.
I promise now to keep and fulfill my promises to others.
I promise now to find my meaning and purpose and then pursue it with focus and passion.
I promise now that whatever I do in this life,
I will tread carefully through the lives of others,
Leaving only a beautiful fragrance as evidence that I was here.
Every time you recite a positive thought,
Statement,
Mantra,
One of the millions of positive connections made in your brain are strengthened.
These connections then lead to new neuronal pathways which create centres of excellence in your brain.
These centres of excellence establish new positive communities of good feeling and wellbeing.
Eventually the old familiar traits that you wish to discard are weakened in the process and a new culture of uplifting thoughts and feelings becomes your norm.
Remember the more you feel what you're saying,
The more you guarantee the outcome that you seek.
So let's repeat this sequence of pledges with even more heartfelt sincerity.
I promise now not to harm myself with negative thoughts and feelings.
I promise now that when old unwanted patterns emerge,
I will take note of their lessons but I will let the negativity go.
I promise now to immerse my mind in positive uplifting rituals.
I promise now to establish positive routines that will support me in all my endeavours.
I promise now to make my mind the sanctuary of peace,
A place that I'll decorate with positive thoughts and feelings each day.
I promise now to use my mind not only to uplift me but to uplift those around me.
I promise now to help those less fortunate than myself wherever I can.
I promise now to keep my promises to myself.
I promise now to keep and fulfil my promises to others.
I promise now to find my meaning and purpose and then pursue it with focus and passion.
I promise now that whatever I do in this life I will tread carefully through the lives of others,
Leaving only a beautiful fragrance as evidence that I was here.
You've now created a safe haven,
A world full of pledges and promises.
On the back of this you can now live a non-negotiable life,
A life where you honour yourself and what's important to you.
Try never again to betray yourself going forward and ensure the feelings that you're experiencing right now are carried with you.
Remember we don't see the world as it is,
We see the world as we are.
It's time to choose which world you want to live in.
I promise now that whatever I do in this life I will tread carefully through the lives of others,
Leaving only a beautiful fragrance as evidence that I was here.
I promise now that whatever I do in this life I will tread carefully through the lives of others,
Leaving only a beautiful fragrance as evidence that I was here.
I promise now that whatever I do in this life I will tread carefully through the lives of
