Welcome to our mindfulness for beginners video 2 all about using mindfulness to build our skills of presence and today we're going to be washing the dishes.
So in today's video if you are by your sink ready to wash some dishes let's begin and if not save this video for later use.
So with washing the dishes there's many different senses that occur.
You know the temperature of the water,
The feeling of the sponge in your hand,
The smell of the soap or the dishes,
The sight of the dishes.
There's many different things going on.
So as you begin to wash your dishes I just urge you to and invite you to really tune into those senses and the reason for doing this is going to help you move out of the mind and back into the body.
Noticing the feeling of the sponge on your hands,
The warmth or the coolness of the water on your skin,
And maybe washing the dishes a bit more slowly to really truly feel the sensation of moving your fingers and your wrists.
Maybe you can notice the scent of the soap and you can watch the debris move off of whatever dish it is that you're washing.
Simply just tuning in to what your hands are doing without even having to think.
Noticing the fingers move and almost an automatic movement,
A knowing.
When you're complete and the water's turned off and your sponge is put down I welcome you to just take a deep breath in through the nose and out through the nose.
