Most of the yoga that we do in our lives probably falls into the category of yanks.

This means that it is more high intensity,

It's more active.

Most of the exercise that we do probably falls into the category of young.

Most of our lives are spent in yang states of energy.

Yin is the opposite.

Yin is about looking inwards,

Becoming still.

And listening to the Infinite Teacher within.

In yin we hold the practice for several minutes.

And what this does is it targets the connective tissues.

The ligaments and the joints.

Over a gentle set of compression over time.

In yin-yang we don't want to be holding the poses and straining and forcing.

We want to be meeting ourselves at what is called the Goldilocks position.

This means a position that is just right.

It's not too much that we're forcing.

But it's not too little that we don't find anything.

And we do want a slight discomfort in our yin practice.

This helps us to know that we're targeting the correct area.

Yin yoga is often associated with using props.

Props are a great way for you to get deeper into the pose and also hold yourself for a sustained period of time.

Because in yin it really is about slowing down to achieve more.

Yin yoga is really beneficial not only for our body but also for our mind.

It builds patience and tolerance.

And it helps us to see.

Endowers in what she's called this wu-wei,

This going with the flow,

This allowing things to unfold at their natural pace rather than forcing.

I would really encourage you to practice yin yoga if you're somebody that naturally leans in towards the more dynamic practices or ways of life.

Remembering that we should always,

As best we can,

Incorporate balance into our lives.

Incorporating that yin and that yang.
