Hi,

And welcome to this meditation on appreciating human life.

Thanks for joining me today.

Make yourself a comfortable position,

Laying down or seated in a lotus position.

Feel yourself sitting.

Before we begin,

Let's set our motivation.

May this meditation bring greater peace and happiness to myself and others and to the whole world.

May this meditation bring greater peace and happiness to all.

May this meditation bring greater peace and happiness to all.

Begin by contemplating the nature of your mind as clear and pure and that you have the potential to attain enlightenment.

This is true for all beings.

The nature of every being's mind is clear like space.

Their minds are vast and unlimited.

Our negative thoughts and emotions are not permanent fixed parts of the mind but are transient like clouds that pass through the sky.

Because negative thoughts and emotions are based on ignorance and misconceptions,

They can be cleared away and the mind can be developed to a state that is completely pure and positive.

Feel joy about this potential.

Now imagine others who are in less than ideal situations to attain enlightenment.

Think about animals without the cognitive ability to attain enlightenment.

Think about people who are living in war zones who must focus just on their daily needs.

Think about those with serious mental illness who have difficulty in even the most basic situations.

Think about people who have no access to spiritual teaching,

Who have no freedom from their government or are oppressed by their family member.

Now think about those who have opportunity but no interest,

Of people that kill,

Of people that are dishonest.

Think about how fortunate you are to be interested in using your life in a meaningful way.

Think about all of your advantages,

That you have compassion for other people,

That you have intelligence and a loving heart.

Think of the limitations of a life directed only towards material gain.

Think about all of the opportunities you have to love,

To have compassion and to have wisdom.

You are so fortunate to be alive and to have this chance to seek enlightenment.

Feel joy about that potential.

You are so fortunate to be alive and to have this chance to seek enlightenment.

Let's dedicate our meditation.

I dedicate the energy and inspiration I've gained from this meditation to the ultimate happiness of all beings.

Let's close with a couple of prayers.

I dedicate all these roots of virtue with the dedication praised as the best by the victorious ones thus gone of the three times so I might perform good work.

This is my contribution to the peace and happiness of all sentient beings and in particular to the peace and happiness of all the sentient beings in the world.

Thank you.

God Bless.

Thank you for the gift of this meditation. I really appreciate the traditional structure, the moments without words so that I can focus on my own mind, the gentle guidance, and the reminder at the end of why I am meditating in the first place. Namaste.
