
Forgiveness Practice
This practice is a beautiful journey to a sacred place of forgiveness and healing. Venture into the forest and let go of what is holding you back to the real space you can create by simply letting go of past hurts and traumas, or maybe just letting go of punishing yourself.
Transcript
Find yourself somewhere comfortable to lay or sit.
Allow your spine to remain straight and your hands to rest gently in your lap or by your sides.
Bringing your awareness now to your breath.
Take a long,
Slow,
Deep breath and feel all the stress and worry from your day.
Simply drop away.
Drop away into the space that surrounds you.
The space that supports you.
Gently,
Softly resting now.
Bring awareness to your toes,
Your feet.
On the out breath surrendering and softly.
Ankles,
Calves,
Shin bones,
Relaxing.
Letting go.
Knees,
Thighs,
The back of your legs,
Your hips,
Your buttocks.
Softening,
Relaxing.
Bring awareness to your belly,
Allowing it to soften with the breath.
All of your internal organs softening.
Awareness of your spine,
Your entire back.
Your fingers,
Your hands,
Your wrists.
Softening and surrendering.
Feel your heart softening and give thanks to this amazing life giving organ.
Bring awareness to your neck and shoulders.
Awareness to your head becoming heavier.
Your eyes resting gently in your sockets.
The jaw becoming soft.
Your tongue resting gently in your mouth.
Feel the body being nourished by the in breath and cleansed by the out breath.
In this moment you know all is well.
You are completely safe and supported.
You are now ready to begin this journey that awaits.
You find yourself on a path made from natural stone.
The surface feels warm beneath your feet.
Your feet are bare and you feel the heat rising up from the earth below.
You move forward along the path.
It is a crisp autumn morning and the air feels cool and cleansing against your skin.
As you move further along the path you see what appears to be a dense green forest ahead.
The trees are a beautiful dark green.
As you move closer the trees seem to part creating a way ahead for you.
Almost as though they have been waiting for you.
Waiting for this moment.
As you make your way into the forest it is as though you are being immersed in a warm green healing energy.
As you walk further along the path there is a clearing up ahead.
In the clearing you notice there is a campfire which is circled by beautiful wooden logs.
As you move closer still you notice someone sitting waiting for you to arrive.
You notice that this person is someone you know.
Someone from your past or someone who is part of your life now.
This person is someone who has hurt you,
Done wrong by you.
Someone who has caused you pain.
In order to move forward in your life completely and lovingly it is time for true forgiveness and healing.
You move closer to the fire and notice that one of the logs lying flat against the earth has a small brass plaque on it.
On this plaque your name is engraved in the most beautiful writing.
Below your name are the words,
A place for true forgiveness,
True healing.
You take a seat on this log directly across from the person from your past.
You look down at your feet and see a beautiful hand woven wicker basket filled with pieces of paper.
On each piece of paper you see the words written in large bold writing.
Curious to see what they say you pick up the basket and gently place it on a seat beside you.
As you reach in and pick up the first piece of paper there is a word written.
This word describes exactly how you feel towards this person sitting across from you.
When you read this word aloud you feel an emotion rising from a place deep within your being.
In this moment you know exactly what you need to do.
You walk over to the fire and take a moment to truly feel this emotion deep inside your heart space in the centre of your chest.
Breathe gently and deeply into your heart space to allow yourself to truly feel this emotion.
You now place the paper into the fire and watch it burn in the orange flame becoming nothing more than ash.
You find yourself feeling a sense of calm,
A sense of inner peace.
You now reach in and repeat this process again and again until the basket is completely empty.
Take a moment to do this now,
Piece by piece,
Paper into ash.
Take all the time you need to release every single piece of paper into the fire,
Releasing every emotion,
Every hurt,
Piece by piece.
Breathe gently and deeply into your heart space.
Breathe gently and deeply into your heart space.
As you look down into the empty basket you realise there is one piece of paper caught underneath the wicker at the base.
As you reach in you pick up this last piece.
This paper is blank.
Within you is a situation in your life where you feel you acted in a way that felt wrong or negative.
You've been sitting with this for a very long time,
Allowing it to eat away at you,
Allowing it to fester.
Now is the very time to forgive yourself and let this go.
You look again at the piece of paper and the words I now forgive myself appear in large bold letters.
When you are ready you walk over to the fire and let the paper simply drop from your fingers.
The paper begins to burn.
You feel the warmth inside your heart space.
You feel a release move through your body and into the ground you are standing on.
You look again into the fire and the paper is gone and in its place nothing but ash.
You look down into the basket and there is nothing left but space.
Space for love,
Space for forgiveness,
Space for what is yet to come.
As you turn to leave the campfire,
This sacred place of forgiveness,
You take one last look back at your friend who is looking at you.
You notice that when you look at this person you now feel a sense of calm,
Peace and forgiveness washed through your entire body.
Being completely full of warmth and unconditional love.
Nothing else.
It is now time to leave this sacred place,
This sacred forest and return on the path that led you here.
As you make your way back you hear the rustling of the leaves of the trees.
You hear the sounds of the birds you didn't notice before.
You feel the warmth of Mother Nature supporting you.
You now find yourself on the edge of the clearing and notice that it is much later in the day.
The sun is above you and her warmth fills the space that you now have created.
You look towards the sky and feel the happiness and the joy and the yellow from the sun.
As your inner journey is about to end you take the time now to thank yourself for this gift,
This gift of healing and forgiveness.
Bring your awareness now back to your physical body.
Back to where your body comes into contact with the ground below.
Become aware of your body.
Become aware of your breath.
Bring into your awareness now one thing you are truly grateful for in this moment.
Allow this gratitude to drop into your heart space and as you breathe just allow this gratitude to completely fill your body.
Seeing every part of your being,
Every part of who you truly are.
Bring your breath to deepen now and as you breathe just breathing gentle movement back to your fingers and toes.
When you are completely ready just gently beginning to open the eyes.
You are now ready for whatever is next on your journey with love and light.
