So let's get started with our mindful drawing meditation.

First set up the paper and your colored pencils in front of you.

Find a comfortable seated position and sit with your hands in your lap or however they're comfortable for you.

Taking a deep breath in and on the out breath letting go and another deep breath and on the out breath letting go.

One more deep breath in and hold and on the out breath letting go.

Now allow your gaze to focus in the far distance.

Softly focused and bring your gaze to the middle distance.

Rest lightly on whatever is in front of you and now bring your gaze to the close distance.

Allow yourself to start to notice what's in front of you.

Perhaps the colors,

The shapes.

Just become curious.

Notice the shadows.

Allow yourself to notice any tiny details.

Becoming curious and open.

No need to judge.

Simply notice tiny details revealing themselves to you.

When you're ready start to gaze at the colored pencils or crayons and allow yourself to spontaneously choose a color,

A type and start to draw.

Allow yourself to draw whatever is in your hand,

Whatever is coming through.

No need to censor.

You're not drawing anything in particular.

You're simply enjoying the experience of the pencil on the paper,

The color,

The feeling.

Allow whatever comes to the page.

No need to judge.

There's no plan here.

No need to produce.

Simply the colors on the page.

Change colors whenever you like.

Simply allow spontaneous color creation.

If you find yourself thinking about what you're drawing,

Or trying to make it into something,

Take a breath.

Allow yourself to let go and return to the simple act of drawing.

Choosing colors.

Colors on the page.

Colors that please you.

Simply drawing without a purpose.

No plan.

No end product.

You can take as long as you like.

Just drawing.

And when you feel ready you can stop and sit quietly for a few moments.

You may now like to take a little time for reflection.

Perhaps consider how did this kind of drawing make you feel?

Was there anything you enjoyed or found difficult?

Did it bring up anything from your past?

Did you feel like your drawing represented something meaningful for you?

Thank you for joining me in this mindful drawing meditation.
