This recording is a meditation on the generation points of prana.
Or of energy.
This practice comes from the vijnana bhairava tantra.
A text full of practical approaches to attaining bhairava consciousness.
This darana or concentration practice is darana 24.
For this practice together come to a comfortable seat with an upright spine if possible.
Though the lovely thing about practices from the vijnana bhairava tantra is for the most part they are accessible at any time in any position.
So in this comfortable seat close the eyes and feel a lengthening of the spine from crown of the head to the root of the spine in the pelvis.
The lifting from the sitz bones all the way up.
And for the next several breaths we'll become reacquainted with the central channel of the body.
This is not quite the spine but a little bit in front of the spine.
Very much in the middle channel of the entire body.
From perineum to crown of the head passing through the heart,
The gut,
The throat.
And from this awareness on the middle channel now we can begin to tune into the two generation points as they are laid out in this text.
The first point being in the center of the body.
A few finger widths above the point of the navel.
This roughly corresponds with the place of the diaphragm.
A touch lower.
Even in yogic circles it's referred to as Manipura chakra.
For the next few breaths you can either breathe into this spot or simply breathe noticing this spot.
What does it feel like to place awareness in this location?
And shift this awareness of this spot in the belly back into the central channel.
We'll be traveling up the central channel into the head.
We move up the central channel of the spine to the second generation point.
The Bindu Visarga.
The Bindu Visarga is a spot at the top of the head but also slightly to the back.
It is the highest point of the head when lifted up through the spine.
It's not quite in center.
It's a little bit to the back.
With a few breaths you become acquainted with this spot,
This Bindu Visarga.
Very top of the head.
And now reactivating our awareness also on the point in the belly Manipura.
I'll guide a few rounds of inhalation and exhalation through awareness of these points.
So let's exhale the air together.
Inhaling through the crown of the head down the central channel into the spot of the belly.
Exhaling up the central channel out the crown of the head.
Inhaling through the crown of the head into the belly.
Exhaling out of the belly through the channel out of the crown of the head.
Inhaling through the crown of the head into the belly.
Exhaling from the belly through the channel out the crown of the head.
Exhaling through the crown of the head down the channel into the belly.
Exhaling out of the belly through the channel out of the crown of the head.
Now that you get the idea,
Continue on in silence at your own pace for a few rounds of breath.
Inhaling through the crown of the head.
Exhaling through the crown of the head.
In this relationship between these two centers,
Between the energy that moves within them,
Our understanding and our part in this relationship changes over time.
As we practice attention and dharana on these two points.
In this recording we have prompted it by breathing,
By our inhales and our exhales.
Though this movement of prana is happening at all times without prompting.
And with more attunement,
With more practice,
You can notice more sensitively the energy is moving within these points.
I thank you for practicing with me today.
We hope you thank yourself and your body and your mind for showing up and cooperating.
May our practice together be of benefit to all beings.
