Most of you have probably heard the word Pilates,
But explaining what Pilates actually is can be surprisingly difficult.
If I had to explain Pilates in one sentence,
I would say Pilates is a method,
It is a system that helps people move better and ultimately feel better.
So in a certain way,
Pilates is so much more than just a collection of exercises.
Pilates at its heart invites us to explore and to learn to understand movement in our bodies.
And I never really mean the individual body,
Because we are all different.
And the beautiful thing about the Pilates method is it provides a framework where literally everybody can explore safely movement at their pace.
So Pilates is not something that we just do in a studio or during the class.
Pilates actually is in a certain way a way of living.
And the most beautiful thing as a teacher is when a client of the class is texting saying,
Oh,
I had to adjust the mirror in my car because I was sitting so tall.
That's a beautiful thing,
Because the work the person did in class changed the way they walk through life in the day-to-day life.
And that's exactly what Pilates is in a certain way.
It's a way of living.
It's how we stand,
How we walk,
How we breathe.
It's not just something we do in an exercise.
It's really creating awareness,
How the connections in our body work,
And how the different parts of our body work together to support the best possible way of moving through life.
I can honestly say Pilates has changed my life,
And I'm so grateful I have that method in my life.
And I hope by practicing with me the Pilates method,
Maybe there is a beginning for you in your personal Pilates journey.
