The definition of belong is to be a part of.
The definition of belonging is the emotional sense of fitting in,
Being accepted,
And feeling comfortable as a valued member of a group,
Family,
Or place.
Belonging is a fundamental human need involving connection,
Security,
And mutual respect.
Do you sometimes struggle with feeling a sense of belonging?
Feeling like you don't belong?
If,
Like me,
You do,
Perhaps some gentle affirmations will help to ease that ache.
I am safe and accepted.
I am exactly where I need to be.
I belong here,
And I deserve to take up space.
I have the right to be here.
I am worthy of belonging.
I am worthy of love just the way I am.
I don't need to be anyone else.
I belong in this world.
I have something unique to offer.
My presence enriches this space.
I am supported and surrounded by love.
I matter.
I am worthy of feeling seen,
Heard,
And listened to.
I am loved,
Accepted,
And acknowledged.
What I have experienced matters.
What I have to say matters.
What I think matters.
Who I am in this very moment matters.
I belong.
Perhaps these affirmations aren't quite enough to shift you towards a feeling of belongingness.
That's okay.
I invite you to think of a time in which you felt a sense of belonging.
Was it with a friend?
In a particular group?
Maybe at work?
On vacation in a new setting,
A new environment,
With new experiences and new people?
Was it when you felt listened to,
Validated?
Or when a stranger offered a kind gesture,
Like holding the door,
Or simply making eye contact and smiling?
What was it that created this sense of belonging in you,
For you?
As with all feelings and emotions,
The sense of belonging may feel fleeting.
When,
If this happens,
I invite you to come back to this memory you just reflected on,
When you did feel the sense of belonging.
Perhaps write it down,
Journal about it,
So you are easily able to come back to that moment in time,
Reflect back,
Connect,
Creating that feeling all over again.
We live in a time where loneliness is more prevalent than ever.
With 8.
5 billion people on earth,
One would think this to be impossible.
Unfortunately it isn't.
My hope for you is that these affirmations brought you peace and comfort,
That this meditation helped in you feeling less alone,
And more connected.
I invite you to come back to this meditation when those feelings arise,
Because we all know they will.
As alone as you may think or feel you are,
You truly are not alone.
May you be safe,
May you be happy,
May you be healthy,
May you live with ease.
Namaste.
