Gently closing your eyes,

Starting to focus all your attention on the sound behind my voice.

This is a short meditation to slow down and to get a quick break or relief from being the caregiver that you are.

That is the intention of this meditation,

So just breathe that intention in right now.

Your goal is to slow down and to get a quick break or relief from being the caregiver that you are.

Breathe it in.

Starting to focus on the muscles in your face.

Can you soften your eyelids?

Place all your attention there.

Starting to soften the muscles in your face,

Your cheeks.

Loosen your jaw.

Together take a deep breath in through the nose.

Let it go out through the mouth or nose.

Do it again.

Deep,

Deep breath in.

Let it go.

One last thing.

We'll just focus on our shoulders.

Let your shoulders drop for the moment.

That's it.

Let's take one last deep breath right to our belly this time.

Deepest breath of your day.

Deep breath in.

Really filling up.

Let it go.

Okay,

So what's going on right now?

What's happening for you right now where you need this short break or relief?

Just start to become aware of the feelings you're feeling right now.

Let me help.

Is it overwhelm?

Too many things going on.

Too many opinions.

Too many voices.

Too many actions.

Do you feel overwhelmed?

And breathe.

Is it confusion?

Does it feel like you're not sure which way to go or how to handle all of this?

Breathe.

Is it sadness or grief?

Is watching what you're experiencing and experiencing what you're feeling,

Are there layers of sadness and grief of watching this change?

Just notice what's true for you,

If anything.

There are so many layers in being a caregiver,

And it's so nuanced and individual to you.

Just breathe that in.

You are doing your best.

You're showing up as best as you can,

And you don't have control over everything.

Breathe that in.

I'm doing the best that I can,

And I can't control everything.

Breathe.

I'll leave you with two questions.

What must you ask for help for?

Or where do you need to go for help?

Which could mean talking to someone,

Something simple.

And what are you being asked to surrender to?

What is the universe asking you to let go of?

That's the tough one.

Take a deep breath.

Know that you're not alone,

Even though it can feel like it at times.

And you're doing the best you possibly can,

And we're lucky to have you around.

We're doing the best that we can,

And your loved one is lucky to have you around.
