Gently closing your eyes and starting to turn your focus to the tone,
The sound behind my voice.
This is a gentle visualization and sound bath for those of us who are caregivers to another.
Allowing yourself to be here with my voice and spending some time that's just for you.
Breathe that intention in.
Air coming in through the nose,
Leaving through the mouth or nose,
Whatever is best for you.
Try it again.
Deeper breath to the chest.
Perfect.
We'll start to focus on some body parts.
Place all your attention on your eyelids and soften them as they're closed.
Focusing on your cheeks,
Softening the muscles in your face.
Beautiful.
Loosening the jaw.
Just for a moment,
Noticing what your tongue is touching,
If anything,
In your mouth.
Perhaps even sliding it along the back of your teeth.
Just being very present to the feeling.
Nice.
Come back to your breath.
Take a deeper breath in,
Slowly allowing yourself to slow down.
Now place all your attention on your shoulders,
Let them drop,
Relax your shoulders.
Starting to notice how you feel after a few minutes of taking time for yourself.
Coming back to the number one priority,
You.
As caregivers,
We often forget that we must come first before we can give care to another.
Breathe that in.
Sometimes we forget we must be the priority in order to have the energy to give care to others.
Notice if there's any resistance,
Because that will give you some information of the voice that feels the constant weight of responsibility.
Let's start there.
Start to focus on the voice in your mind,
If you can find it,
That says,
I must keep going at all costs.
I must keep going at all costs.
And just notice what this voice is telling you when you're in the role of being caregiver.
This voice constantly runs.
We can do more.
We have to be on constant watch.
We can't replenish our battery because something may happen.
Notice how your voice talks to you about being constantly responsible.
And just breathe.
This is normal as caregivers.
It's normal to feel the weight of responsibility.
We just want to be aware of this voice and how it's working.
Because it needs boundaries so that you have the energy to keep going.
Breathe that in.
My voice of responsibility needs boundaries so that I have the energy to keep showing up.
Breathe.
Now I want you to visualize the face of the person that you're taking care of.
Start to see their face.
And if there are faces,
You can see the group of them.
Just notice your connection to the person that you're giving care to.
Notice the way in which you have connected with them and them with you.
Breathe.
We're just centering in on this connection that is so important.
It's the reason you show up.
And can you notice what's changing?
Is there anything changing with the person you're giving care for?
Is there anything you're grieving as the process is going on?
Are you mourning the sadness of change?
Perhaps what is slipping away or what life used to be like?
Is this grief and sadness present?
Breathe.
This is also very normal to experience as a caregiver.
The feeling of grief,
Loss,
Or sadness as we watch someone we care for change.
Breathe that in.
This is normal.
And lastly,
Let's talk about your needs.
What do you need right now?
Do you ask for help?
And if that's a yes,
Do you need to ask for more help?
See the faces of those you need to be in touch with.
People do want to help you.
What do you need help with?
Name it.
Do you need to talk to someone?
Do you need to be seen for what you're feeling?
Breathe that in.
Everyone needs to be seen for what they're feeling.
Especially at times like this.
And as we head into a little bit of sound to help you calm and restore your energy,
I want to remind you how special you are for spending your energy in this lifetime this way.
How special you are.
And I speak for the person you're giving care to.
They know it,
Though they might not always be able to express it.
Their soul understands.
It is appreciative of you being present.
Breathe it in.
Breathe with every tone.
Remember your energy and your boundaries matter.
And that it's normal for you to feel what you're feeling during this time of need.
Breathe.
Breathe deeper.
