Welcome to the Winter Spiral.
I'm Heidi Reeves and this is Day 10.
So let's begin.
Find a comfortable place to sit or lie down somewhere that you can settle for the next few minutes.
Allow your hands to rest comfortably at your sides.
And gently.
Allow your eyes to flutter closed.
And feel your body being supported,
The places where it meets the chair or the ground.
And take a slow,
Gentle breath in through your nose.
Hold at the top.
And gently exhale out your nose.
And again,
Breathe in.
Hold at the top.
And then gently exhale out.
And then allow your breath to return to its natural rhythm.
Notice as the air is moving in and out of your body.
Maybe you notice the gentle movement of your chest or your belly.
There are times in our lives when we find ourselves.
In a place between.
What was and the place.
Of what comes next.
Something familiar,
Maybe changing,
Maybe it's a role we had.
A way of living.
Or a story about who we are.
And we may sense that.
Something new is beginning.
Even though we don't yet quite have the full picture.
And I find this is when the mind begins to look for answers.
We want to know what comes next.
How things will unfold for us.
And today we simply with intention.
We simply rest in the space between.
Bring your attention back to your breath.
And feel as the breath enters your body and follow it.
As you breathe out.
Noticing the inhale.
And the exhale.
And begin to notice.
That quiet moment,
That space.
As one breath finishes.
And the next.
Begins.
Simply notice.
And as you breathe out the next time,
See if you can become aware.
Of that small moment.
That pause before the next breath begins.
And allow the next inhale to arrive naturally.
And exhale out.
Sometimes that space between is so brief we barely notice it.
Just follow your breath gently in and out.
You may find yourself remembering something from earlier today.
Or thinking of something that you need to do.
And when you notice that your attention has wandered,
Just gently return yourself to your breath.
Breathing in and breathing out.
Now bring to mind something in your life that feels like it might be changing.
To something that you can comfortably sit with in this moment.
And notice what happens.
In your body as you notice this,
As you acknowledge this.
What do you feel?
Do you feel relief?
Or maybe possibility.
Or curiosity.
Whatever you notice,
Just take a moment to recognize it.
To sit with it.
Returning to your breath,
The inhale.
And exhale.
And quietly ask yourself.
What am I letting go of?
What has come to a close for me?
And listen.
Then ask,
What am I moving toward?
And allow yourself a moment of curiosity.
Allow yourself to pause and listen.
And what is this time,
What is this time and space asking of me?
Do I need more courage?
Patience.
Let whatever arises.
Come to the surface.
Now we'll spend a little time in silence following the natural rhythm of our breath.
Noticing.
The pause,
The space between the breaths.
And returning to the breath if your attention wanders.
We'll take one minute.
Gently inhaling in,
Noticing the pause.
Exhaling out,
Noticing the pause.
Gently begin to bring your awareness.
Back to the sounds around you.
Begin to wiggle your feet and your hands.
Take a slow,
Deep breath in.
Gently exhale out.
And as you move through your day,
Remember that you can return to this simple practice.
Taking your breath.
And giving yourself a moment to be exactly where you are in the present.
And when you're ready,
You can gently blink your eyes open.
Thank you for spending this time with me.
I'll see you tomorrow as we continue our journey through the winter spiral.
