An Advent prayer for peace. Peace, Be still, You speak, And the storm is over. How are you doing this? Breathe over me this peace that transcends my understanding. Peace, Through the mess of my desire and despair, My contradictory words and actions, My everyday hypocrisy, All my colours blurred together beyond thoughts, Beyond words. Peace, Through the noise of distraction and duty, The lead weight of responsibility and expectation driving perfectionism, Ceaseless need. This is all too much. Save me, Oh God. Bathe me in your peace. Dial down the noise. Turn on, Tune in, Drop into the divine. May peace permeate every conversation, Underpin every interaction, And go before me into every situation. May this peace of God be my guard and guide my whole life long. And when that day comes, May I rest in peace everlasting, In the arms of Christ, The Prince of Peace. So I ask, And so it is.
