Yoga Nidra for Nila.
Lie on your back in Shavasana and imagine you're lying on a raft loading on beautiful cerulean blue waters.
The waters are those of an ocean and they are deep.
The ocean you are floating on is a metaphor for the vastness beyond any human measure.
As you lie on this raft,
We'll begin the repetition of the Divine Mother Invocation from the Ananda Lahari.
Repeat these phrases aloud or mentally.
O Divine Mother,
May all my speech and idle talk be mantra.
All actions by my hands be mudra.
All eating and drinking be the offering of oblations unto thee.
All lying down prostrations before thee.
May all pleasures be as dedication of my entire self unto thee.
May everything I do be taken as I worship.
Avichopa writes,
Nila,
The deep blue color of the moonless night is Kali's mystic hue.
Her unfathomable shades of azure script the beauty of all darkness,
The vastness of space and the unmanifest absolute,
Which truly is Kali's unique nature.
A deep blue is the shade of the kalayoni,
The great womb of time through which all life springs forth at birth and returns at death.
Akasha Yoni,
The womb of space holds the vastness of heavenly realms drawing us into the ascension of cerulean blue.
Nila is the lunar goddess of contemplation.
Her affirmation is,
I honor my thoughts.
Repeat her affirmation three times with full awareness.
And imagine a blue healing light surrounding the body and place this blue healing light on the right hand thumb,
Index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
Pinky finger.
See the light as a ball in the palm of the hand,
Back of the hand,
Wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Shoulder,
Armpit.
See that light touching healing the side of the right rib cage,
Right waist,
Hip,
Upper leg,
Kneecap,
Lower leg,
Ankle,
Heel,
Instep,
Sole of the foot,
Top of the foot,
And blue healing light across the right big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
And fifth toe.
And bring the blue healing light to the left side of the body and feel it anointing the left hand thumb,
Index finger,
Middle finger,
Ring finger,
And pinky finger.
And feel that blue healing light as a ball in the palm of the hand,
Back of the hand,
Wrist,
Forearm,
Elbow,
Upper arm,
Shoulder,
Armpit,
And touching gently the side of the left rib cage,
Left waist,
Left hip,
Upper leg,
Kneecap,
Lower leg,
Ankle,
Heel,
Instep,
Sole of the foot,
Top of the foot,
And blue healing light across the left big toe,
Second toe,
Third toe,
Fourth toe,
And fifth toe.
And stay awake and aware and place a crescent moon at the eyebrow center,
The planet Mars at the right and left eye,
The planet Mercury at the right and left ear,
Jupiter at the throat,
Venus at the heart,
Place Saturn at the navel,
Rahu at the mouth,
And Ketu at the genitals.
And feel the whole body together surrounded by blue healing light and planets and moons.
And absorb the cosmic healing energy into the body and begin to notice the breath.
Feel the rise and fall of the breath of the belly.
And with each inhalation,
Think waxing.
And with each exhalation,
Think waning.
Inhale,
Thinking waxing,
And exhale,
Thinking waning.
And continue this practice of using waxing and waning with the rise and fall of the breath.
And continue the practice of repeating the mantras waxing and waning.
Continue to repeat waxing with the inhalation and waning with the exhalation.
And then let go of this practice and come back to natural breathing.
And notice any cool air coming in through the mouth or nostrils.
And notice any cool air across the skin.
And find any places where the body is cool.
And spread that coolness across the entire body.
Let the body be cool.
Know the body is coolness.
Let the body be cool.
And let go of coolness and come to the opposite experience of warmth.
Notice where the body is warm under the blankets or clothing.
Connect to these places of warmth and spread them across the entire body.
Let the body be warm.
Experience the body as warmth.
The body is warm.
And let go of the opposite practice and bring awareness to the Chitakash,
The mind space in front of the closed eyes.
Bring awareness to the mind movie.
And in that space,
See the beautiful blue goddess Neela.
She stands alone in the cremation grounds.
See her there.
She has four arms and three eyes.
And she wears a necklace of skulls.
And as you look into her eyes,
They are red and rolling.
And her tongue protrudes from her luscious mouth.
See her there,
This form of Kali.
And she lets us know,
She reveals to us that this evening is a time for surrender,
Rest and recuperation.
She says to us,
No more overthinking incessant planning and getting in your own way.
She asked for you to let your mind be open and dark and peaceful.
This is a perfect evening to pray and contemplate.
Resting and cleansing are also recommended.
If possible,
Bring unfinished personal projects to a close.
She's here,
Neela,
To help us remove any blockages that are on our path to spiritual awakening.
She will stand by us to confront any unresolved anger or buried emotions.
This strong goddess,
She will remove fear and spread joy and good fortune in our lives.
See her there wrapped in blue,
Neela.
And as you connect to her this evening,
10 nights after the full moon,
Feel yourself enveloped in her celestial contemplation.
See yourself enveloped in her celestial vastness and merge with her as she merges with the cosmos.
And bring awareness to the heart.
And in the heart,
Feel the heart beating.
And in the beats of the heart,
Hear the whisper of the sankopa,
The affirmation that was made in the beginning of the yoga nidra practice,
Either your personal sankopa or the phrase that was given,
I honor my thoughts,
And repeat them three times mentally with full awareness and the confidence that they will come true.
And bring awareness to the breath.
Circle the breath inside the body.
Sense the breath,
Breathing in and out of the nose or mouth.
Sense the body lying on the floor.
Feel the weight of the body.
Feel the body heavy and the thoughts light.
And begin to make each inhale deeper and deeper and each exhale fuller and fuller.
Inhaling and exhaling deeply and fully.
And say to yourself mentally,
The practice of yoga nidra is now complete.
Keep the eyes closed.
Begin to wiggle the fingers and the toes.
Bring the thumb to the index finger,
Then to the middle finger,
Then to the ring finger,
And then finally to the pinky finger.
And let's repeat that.
Thumb to the index finger,
Thumb to the middle finger,
Thumbs to the ring finger,
And thumbs to the pinky finger.
And once more,
Do this,
Repeating the mantra,
Sa,
Thumbs to the index fingers,
Ta,
Thumbs to the middle fingers,
Na,
Thumbs to the ring fingers,
Ma,
Thumbs to the pinky fingers.
And again,
Sa,
Ta,
Na,
Ma.
And one last time,
Beginning again.
Thumbs to the index fingers,
Sa,
Thumbs to the middle finger,
Ta,
Thumbs to the ring fingers,
Na,
And thumbs to the pinky fingers,
Ma.
And the translation is truth is my identity,
Or truth is my name.
And then roll over to your right side in a fetal position and use it as a transition to push up to seated.
Bring the hands together at the heart center and repeat these phrases.
Oh,
Divine mother,
May all my speech and idle talk be mantra.
May all actions by my hands be mudra.
All eating and drinking be the offering of oblations unto thee.
All lying down prostrations before thee.
May all pleasures be a dedication of my entire self unto thee.
May everything I do be taken as thy worship.
Namaste.
