Lesson One, Vulnerability
In Lesson One, I'll share an overview of this four-day class with you. I'll offer some insights on poetry and bust a few myths about poetry, hopefully making it more accessible. Then, together, we'll explore vulnerability through writing. You won't necessarily write about vulnerability but instead access those softer, more vulnerable places within yourself and write from those places. You might be surprised that it is in your vulnerability that you can find strength in writing and life.

Lesson Two, Finding Deep Meaning in the Simple
Lesson Two of Poetic Journaling will surprise you! Today we explore the idea of meaning and how you can find deep meaning in the most simple and seemingly mundane things, like items in your home, and experiences, like going to the market. I'll share some poetry, guide you through a short meditative process and then you'll have the opportunity to write.

Lesson Three, Poetic Writing For Healing
In today's lesson, you'll learn how to use writing, specifically, poetic writing and poetry to heal (or begin to heal) the more painful experiences you've experienced. You will see that you don't have to write about the painful experience but tap into that place of hurt, pain, physical or otherwise and write from that place and release it onto the page, thus creating space in your body, for more joy, more creativity, and/or more ease. I'll read some poems and offer some writing prompts in today's lesson.

Lesson Four, Let's Play With Poetry
Today's lesson gives you more opportunities to write. I will offer writing prompts. I will read some poems, and you'll see that no topic is off-limits. That you can write poems about anything, doll houses, oranges, sardines, painting, anything. Let yourself be free on the page, surprise yourself and have fun with the writing prompts offered in class.
