Welcome to the meet your ancestors meditation.
Sit down in an area that feels good for your body.
Somewhere where you could feel your body deeply.
Whether that's sitting down or lying down.
Take a few deep breaths in through your nose and out through your mouth.
Transport yourself to a place on earth that feels nourishing for you.
Maybe this is a beach.
Maybe it's a forest.
Maybe it's the mountains.
Wherever you are,
Visualize the support of the earth underneath you.
Connecting you to the vast wisdom of mother nature.
Feel her energy enter through your body as you inhale and run down your spine as you exhale.
It's like two more inhales and exhales.
Letting mother earth's energy enter through you as you inhale and run down your spine as you exhale.
Think about who you are and where you are in this moment.
And remember that every part of you has been woven together by the fabric of her ancestors.
The joy,
The wounds,
The strength,
Their blood,
Their experiences,
Their pains,
And their happiness all run through you and shape you.
They live within you.
I want you to begin to visualize your family line.
Visualize the first person who comes to mind that you see and feel has inner wisdom.
Whether this is someone early in your life like your mother or your aunt,
Uncle,
Or a family friend,
Or someone much further down the line even if you have not met them.
Visualize them in front of you.
As you inhale,
Breathe in their wisdom within you.
And as you exhale,
Breathe out your gratitude into them.
We'll do four breaths.
Exhaling their wisdom and exhaling your gratitude.
Asking if this spirit has anything that they need to share with you,
Whether it's a story,
Song,
Or words.
Just listen.
And we want you to continue moving up your family line with this conversation,
Receiving knowledge and offering gratitude by exchanging your breath,
Taking as many breaths as you need with each spirit.
We'll do this together two more times and you're welcome to pause and go back and repeat if you have more spirits where you'd like wisdom from.
So visualize someone else in your family line,
Someone that you feel has inner wisdom to share with you.
Imagine them in front of you.
You're not touching each other,
But you're still connected.
And as you inhale,
Breathe in their wisdom and exhale your gratitude.
Three more times and ask this spirit if they have anything that they'd like to share with you,
Whether it's a story,
Song,
Words,
Or something else.
Just what they do or say and take it in.
Now we'll do this with one more person.
Imagine a third person in your family line.
And if it's someone that's not in your family line or someone that you just admire,
They can be a part of you.
You can get wisdom from them.
As you stand across from them,
Visualizing them,
Inhale their wisdom and exhale your gratitude.
Four breaths.
And ask the spirit if they have anything to share with you,
Whether it's story,
Song,
Words,
Or anything else.
Take in whatever they have to say and notice how you feel in your body.
Feel free to pause or go back and re-listen if there's more people in your family line who you'd like to connect with.
And when you reach the end of your family line as you know it,
Sit in silence for as long as you'd like and allow these messages to come to you,
To come through you,
To be embodied within you.
These messages can come in the form of images or sounds in your head.
It could be a feeling or even a smell.
We'll just sit in silence for a minute or so,
Allowing those to come through.
Don't forget to breathe in a comfortable pace.
Your ancestors have delivered these messages for you,
For you to break cycles of generational trauma,
For you to heal yourself and your lineage.
We're going to end this meditation repeating a simple phrase.
I thank all those who have helped shape and create me.
I honor your divine wisdom.
I thank all those who have helped shape and create me.
I honor your divine wisdom.
I thank all those who have helped shape and create me.
I honor your divine wisdom.
Take a deep breath in and out.
And welcome yourself back into the room when you're ready.
Thank you.
