We are going to finish the way we started,
By getting still.
But this time,
The work's already done.
There's nothing left to do but land.
Breathe in.
And make the exhale longer than the inhale.
Two or three of those.
This is your body shifting out of effort and into repair.
You are not just stopping,
You are teaching it.
How to come down?
Now notice the body that did the work.
Warmth in the legs,
Maybe fatigue in the arms,
Your hands.
Don't grade it.
Don't decide if it was a good session or a bad session.
Just let it be what it is.
That's the whole non-judgment thing.
And you are doing it right now.
Cuss back over the last hour gently.
And find the hardest moment.
For a lot of you,
It was the practice,
It may have been the exercise,
That point where your hands were screaming,
And a very clear voice said,
Stop.
Stay with what actually happened there.
The urge to quit arrived and then it passed.
The burn arrived and it passed.
You didn't make it stop.
You didn't run from it.
You just stayed and breathed and watched a hard thing come and go.
Without obeying it.
Here's the part I want you to take home.
That wasn't a gym skill.
Every difficult thing you have ever come through in your life,
You came through the same way.
It rose.
You stayed.
It passed.
Tonight you just practiced it on purpose.
With your hands on a bar.
Where it was simple enough to actually see.
So be clear about what changed in the last hour.
You came in to change your body,
But the body barely changed in 60 minutes.
That takes months.
What changed tonight was your relationship to discomfort.
You found out you can be with a hard thing instead of fleeing it.
And that followed you in through the same door it's about to follow you out.
If you can't take the workout with you,
You'll have forgotten the reps by Thursday.
But you can't take the way you paid attention.
As the one thing that's portable.
It works on a deadline,
A difficult conversation,
A long night,
Exactly the way it worked on the exercises.
And making it easy to find again is just three moves.
Arrive.
A few breaths before you train.
Attend.
Being present for your workout and absorb long exhales and notice what shifted You already ran the whole loop tonight,
So you know.
Is a thing you can do.
This was never about performance.
It's practice.
You don't pass it and you don't finish it.
You returned to it,
The way you kept returning your attention to the breath.
The strong ones just return faster.
Last breath in.
And a long slow release.
Letting the session close behind you.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
Take the present one with you.
