This meditation is a prayer to your inner child as she experiences her first bleed.

Allow yourself to go on a journey of remembrance as you rewrite the story of your initiation from girl to woman.

Precious one,

I know that this moment feels big.

Maybe there are tears.

Perhaps fear ripples through your bones and the air in your lungs feels tight.

A change has occurred in your body and somewhere within you knows that you've crossed the red bridge into a space that feels unknown.

As cherry red blood wraps around your leg like a serpent on a tree,

A woman is born.

But you don't quite grasp what this means and that's okay.

You see,

Precious one,

You were never taught about your sacredness.

That the space nestled below the branches of your ribs and above the cave of your pelvis is your dark,

Holy womb.

The same space that creates worlds.

You were never taught that your womb blood is the blood of life and death,

A warm and nourishing river of uterine lining that sheds what the body no longer needs,

As well as a replenishing sea of stem cells that regenerates new life.

You were never taught about your cyclical nature,

How just as flowers bud with new life in spring,

How the sun shines brightest during summertime,

How leaves fall and the wind chills in autumn,

And how shadows and darkness bring life to a pause during wintertime,

So too does your body flow through cycles and seasons.

From nature's seasons to the life cycle of earth's inhabitants,

Everything,

Dear one,

Follows the life-death-life sequence.

And everything is born from a womb,

Including you.

Not long ago,

You were tucked away in the ovary of your mother as she rested in the nurturing embrace of your grandmother's warm womb.

That's right,

Your life began when your mother was a four-week-old fetus,

When her ovaries first developed and filled with the potential of life in the form of millions of eggs.

You existed there,

Precious one,

As just one potential out of millions,

In your mother's ovary.

As your grandmother ate meals,

Shared belly laughs,

Cried tears of pain,

And danced with her feet on the earth,

You were there when your grandmother swelled with pregnancy as your mother grew in her womb.

You were there when your grandmother pushed your mother through the birth canal,

And you were there when your mother took her first breath.

You were there,

Dear one,

When your mother grew inch by inch,

Learning to crawl,

Walk,

And talk.

You were there when your mother had her first birthday,

Shared her first kiss,

And met your father for the first time.

You were there when the red serpent knocked on your mother's door during her transition from girl to woman.

And of course,

Dear one,

You became you at the moment of conception,

When your divinity decided to take the walk of soul and flesh and body on earth,

When you chose the sacred path of womanhood in this lifetime.

As glistening red blood pouring down your legs,

It's time,

Precious one,

To remember the power that you hold within your womb.

Take a moment now to settle into your body,

Deepening your breath.

With your spine tall or back resting on the floor,

Gently cup each palm around your womb,

Allowing your fingers to spread wide in an embrace of eternal love and safety.

Take three deep breaths into your womb space,

Offering a moment of connection and reverence.

On the in-breath,

Feel the rising of your womb as you fill up with the sweet nectar of soothing,

Healing love.

On the out-breath,

Release any tension and darkness from your body.

Repeat this womb breathing until you feel a softening in your body and a warmth beneath your palms.

In your mind's eye,

Recall the moment of your first bleed.

Place yourself right into the moment where you first noticed the red blood trickling down your leg.

Observe any feelings of fear behind that little girl's eyes or confusion within her delicate mind.

Feel.

Allow yourself to embrace any emotions as anger,

Shame,

Guilt,

Sadness,

And maybe even disgust may arise.

Drop deeply into the body and notice what beliefs,

Feelings,

And emotions are coming up at this point.

Next,

Imagine you as the age that you are today walking into the room where your little girl is experiencing her first bleed.

Watch as she notices you entering the space and the feeling of love,

Safety,

And trust that washes over her body just at the sight of your loving presence.

Take your inner child into your arms and ask her,

What's something that you wish someone would have told you in this moment?

What's something that you needed to hear and feel that you didn't get a chance to receive at this moment of your first bleed?

What's something that you wish someone would have told you?

Pause in a moment of stillness,

Allowing your inner child to just speak anything on her mind,

Any feelings that she experienced during that moment,

And just listen to her.

Give her the space to share what has been stored in her heart from this experience of having her first bleed.

Next,

Take your inner child into your arms and tell her the exact words that you may have needed to hear as you stepped into your womanhood for the first time.

These words may include,

I know you're afraid.

I know that this feels big and unknown.

Your fears and your feelings are valid.

Despite what society may or may not have told you about your menstrual cycle,

Your blood is sacred.

The pain of your ancestors is not yours to carry.

In your womb exists a portal that creates worlds.

You are worthy of receiving love,

Abundance,

And ecstasy.

Your womb is a healthy,

Vibrant ecosystem that knows exactly what it needs to thrive.

It is safe for you to experience pleasure.

You are deserving of unconditional love.

You are a beautiful and powerful expression of divine feminine energy.

You are officially a woman and although you've crossed the red bridge,

It's okay that everything feels unknown.

You are going to figure it out and you are supported.

Next,

Imagine that two white angels appear just before you and your inner child and enfold you both in a loving embrace of bright white light.

Bask in this love as you sit with your inner child in this sacred space,

Soothing her,

Comforting her,

And just allowing her to feel and to be and to receive the gift of your unconditional love.

Stay within this bubble of white light for as long as you need.

And when you feel ready to leave this space,

Imagine that these two beautiful angels are taking your inner child into their arms as they walk her to angel daycare where she will be tended to and cared for and soothed and loved and nourished.

And slowly imagine this white light surrounding your body as you become aware of the space that you're in.

Feeling into all of the spaces in which your body is connected to the earth,

Slowly deepen the breath as you open and close your palms,

Bringing awareness back within.

Take one hand on the heart and the other on your womb as you seal the sacred connection between the heart and the womb space.

Honoring yourself,

Honoring your body,

And honoring your inner child.

Slowly rise up when ready and journey onward with this rewritten story of your first bleed etched into your memory and being forever.
