Settle into your savasana or a comfortable posture of your choice.
You're welcome to cover your eyes or place a bolster under your feet,
Knees,
Or head.
Walk your shoulder blades closer together and spread your arms out nice and wide with
your hands facing upward in a posture of receiving.
And gently,
Slowly,
Close your eyes or soften your gaze as you turn your attention inward.
Feel all of the places in which your body is connected with the earth.
With every inhale,
Feel as if your chest is rising with the ground beneath you.
And with every exhale,
Feel your bones get heavier as you sink more deeply into your mat.
Begin to bring your awareness to the area above your breastbone into the center part
of your chest,
Right where your sacred heart center lives.
Also known as the anahata chakra in sanskrit,
The heart chakra is the fourth energy center
of the body.
It's the guardian of compassion,
Empathy,
Forgiveness,
And most importantly,
How we
give and receive love to not only ourselves,
But others.
Let's take three deep breaths into the upper chest to connect with the heart space.
Place one hand on your heart and the other on your belly.
Exhale all of the stale air out of your lungs and take a deep breath in.
Since the beginning of civilization,
The heart was depicted as a source of wisdom,
Health,
Intuition,
And higher intelligence.
The ancient Egyptians believed that the heart,
Rather than the brain,
Was the center of the
soul,
While the Greeks saw it as an independent source of heat.
In ancient Mesopotamia,
The heart was believed to be a fragment of the sun's fire.
Somewhere within us knows this to be true,
That within our heart spaces dwells a connection
to something that feels more loving,
More trusting,
More compassionate,
And more forgiving
than our brains sometimes lead us to be.
And now in our modern era of science,
Research has proven that there is a physiological and
psychosomatic relationship to our connection with our hearts and the rest of our bodies,
As well as our souls.
All it takes is a moment of focusing our attention on this sacred space to recharge our tired
cells,
Soothe our stressed out nervous systems,
And replenish the never-ending well of self-love
within us that we may have been disconnected to.
Let's put this to the test.
In your mind's eye,
Envision your heart center as a lake of love.
This lake is sparkling with glimmers of emerald green and gold.
There are no signs of damage or disease within this lake.
It's a perfectly healthy ecosystem where every living cell knows its role,
Which is simply
to be and to love.
This emerald lake is connected to many winding rivers that bend and twist around your body
as your veins,
Providing oxygen-rich blood and nourishment to your cells and tissues.
But when we become sad or angry or forget our inner power and connection to this loving
source,
Sometimes the rivers begin to carry debris and harmful toxins and thoughts to
the rest of our bodies,
And we may feel cut off from this source of love within us.
At times,
These rivers also connect with other people,
Loved ones,
Friendships,
Partners,
Providing them with our love.
These rivers may even carry our energy to our places of work,
To the things that we
do,
And to many things outside of ourselves.
And sometimes,
The rivers grow tired and dry because they're too busy giving too much
of ourselves outside of us.
Many times,
We forget to give ourselves the love that we so often give to others,
Creating
a source of disconnection within our minds,
Bodies,
And spirits.
It's time to replenish ourselves with our own love,
Remembering that the emerald lake
within us needs that love to maintain its healthiest and most efficient ecosystem,
And
that the planet and its inhabitants also depend on the well of our love to be filled,
As do our loved ones,
Bosses,
Clients,
And relationships.
Think about something that may be weighing on your heart,
Something that's been a source
of disconnection,
Pain,
Or hurt.
See if you can identify the area of disconnection,
Pain,
Or hurt within the body.
Maybe it's right within your heart center.
Perhaps it's somewhere else,
Like in your abdomen,
Throat,
Or solar plexus.
Really take a moment to feel where it lives.
If you feel like you can't identify exactly where within the body this pain resides,
That's
okay.
Just keep the general source of pain and disconnection within your awareness for just a moment.
Next,
Think about where this source of pain may have developed.
Did somebody else cause it?
Was there a certain event that occurred that triggered your pain?
See if you can identify it and note how the feeling of pain may have become frozen in
your field,
Causing a dam in one of those rivers flowing from your heart.
Now bring your awareness back to your emerald lake,
The flourishing green spring within
your heart center that's pulsing and overflowing with love.
With your next inhale,
Fill all the way up with that boundless love,
And imagine in your
mind's eye that it's traveling out through the various rivers that you remain connected
to,
Until it leads right to the area within your body that you've identified as the source
of pain.
See and feel the pain slowly dissolve as you bring the elevated emotion of love to
the hurt.
Tell yourself,
Tell the pain,
And tell anyone else who may be involved,
I am sorry,
Please
forgive me,
Thank you,
I love you,
Also known as the Hawaiian prayer of hoʻoponopono.
Maybe you want to repeat this prayer internally a few times,
Or just let the energy of the
prayer resonate,
Helping your pain to release.
Maybe you can feel the shift of pain into love within this moment.
Maybe you can't just yet.
But know that your intention for love,
Compassion,
And forgiveness was sent out from your heart
center and received by every cell in your body.
Bask in this love for the next few minutes,
As you fill your own cup and connect with
the part of you that knows they're worthy,
Knows they're limitless,
And knows they're
loved unconditionally.
Send this love out to the area of your home,
To those around you,
To the planet,
And out
to the universe.
Stay as long as you need,
And feel free to come back to this meditation whenever you
need a replenishment of your own love.
You are worthy.
