Today,
You will be exploring your passions.
Passion is what helps motivate action,
And action is what helps you succeed with accomplishing your goals.
Passion is like the engine that drives you,
And skills are like the wheels that get you to where you need to go.
Many successful people would state that passion is one of the biggest reasons for their success.
In order to find passion,
You have to explore within yourself.
There's no classes or teachers that teach you passion unlike skills.
When what you do is in alignment with who you are,
You're engaged,
Not overwhelmed,
And you get things done with ease.
Passion is closely associated with happiness,
Excitement,
Motivation,
Focus,
And a sense of self-worth.
There is one common misunderstanding with passion,
Is that it should always feel good.
Passion like everything in life has cycles.
The cycles with passion are similar to choosing a best friend.
It's not choosing someone that makes you happy all the time,
But somebody that you can remain friends with even through the difficult times.
Being engaged in work that you're passionate about is not only beneficial for you,
But also beneficial for your employer and coworkers.
Imagine if you're a hiring manager.
You'd want to hire people that are passionate because you know the level of engagement you're going to get and the quality of work is going to be better.
Most importantly,
Being engaged in work you're passionate about will lead you to living a happier and more engaged life.
You might find that you have multiple passions,
Or that there's one specific thing that you'd find you're most passionate about.
Let's begin to explore your passions by first settling into the room by taking three deep breaths together.
Take a deep breath in,
Hold it for a moment,
And slowly exhale.
Again,
Taking a long,
Slow,
Deep breath,
Hold,
And slowly exhale.
One more time.
Inhale,
And exhale.
Continue to relax and breathe at your own pace.
Take some time to feel yourself breathing.
Just take a moment now to check in with how you're physically feeling.
Draw your attention to your feet.
Recognize that your feet ground you to the earth.
As you continue to breathe at your own pace,
Feel yourself relaxed and bring your attention up your legs.
Now become aware of your stomach,
And then your chest,
Up into your throat,
Your head,
And in between your eyebrows.
Just breathe and feel your body come alive and calm.
Taking a deep breath to become more aware and in tune with your body,
And see if you can allow yourself to relax just 5% more.
Let's take a moment to open to your senses.
Open your ears to the sounds inside this room,
Outside the room,
The sound of my voice.
Open your senses to feeling the weight of your body on the chair or on the floor.
Allow yourself to have your own experience.
There's no particular way that this should look.
There's nothing for you to do.
There's nowhere you need to be.
Just let yourself relax into this moment.
I'm now going to lead you on a visualization to explore your passions.
We're going to start with exploring your childhood,
And all you need to do is listen to my voice and allow for whatever comes up to come up.
Do your best not to judge your thoughts and allow yourself room to explore.
Your thoughts are yours alone,
And you won't have to share anything that you're thinking.
Let's begin by going back in time to recall what you loved doing the most as a child.
The age is not important.
You might find yourself exploring a specific age,
Or maybe find yourself exploring moments within a number of different years within your childhood.
Now take a moment and think about,
As a child,
What did you love doing the most?
Maybe it was interacting with a person or playing with an animal,
Being outside on the playground,
Building or drawing,
Playing with a toy.
What did you enjoy doing the absolute most?
Why did this make you happy?
Maybe because you had the chance to be creative or build something with your hands.
What were the qualities of what you were doing that brought you so much joy?
Let's now move on and explore another piece of your childhood.
Take a moment to recall,
What did you want to be when you grew up?
It doesn't matter if it was practical or realistic.
Maybe you wanted to be a vet or a superhero.
What was it that you liked about this job?
What were the qualities or skills you used in this job that you like so much?
Take just a few more seconds to try to recall why you like this job.
Let's now bring your focus into the present and where you are at currently.
I'm going to ask you a series of questions that can help you remember specific times in your life that may have connected you to your passions.
These questions can relate to where you are now or they can also be from the past.
As I ask you these questions,
You may want to consider what were your surroundings?
Who were you with?
How did you physically feel?
What emotions were you feeling?
And what thoughts were going through your mind?
We will start by exploring things that have been important to you.
The more you can discover the details of your answers,
The better.
Have fun and let your mind go and see if you can bring yourself into the feeling of these moments.
So remember to consider your surroundings,
Who you were with,
Physically how you were feeling,
Emotions and thoughts.
Let's begin.
When are you the happiest?
When do you feel yourself the most alive?
When have you felt super focused?
When have you felt like you've had an endless amount of energy and could keep going with what you were doing for long periods of time?
What is most important to you?
What is most important for your community or for the world?
What do you want people to remember you for?
With everything you now know about what gives you passion,
Which parts of the past or present would you want to bring into the future?
What would your life look like if you were to live a life driven by passion beginning tomorrow?
What would you be doing?
How would you be doing it?
Passion is an important piece that contributes to your happiness and success.
If you're not sure what you'd like to do or want to keep exploring,
Try new things and see how much you enjoy them.
Another suggestion to try to figure out things that you're interested in is to find a place that has magazines and look through them.
And as you're looking through different types of magazines,
Ask yourself,
What could I fall in love with?
Exploring and connecting to your passions is a lifelong practice.
Begin to bring yourself back into the room now and feel your feet on the floor.
Take a deep breath.
And when you're ready,
Open your eyes.
In silence,
Please take 10 minutes to write or draw what you experienced in your visualization.
