Hey friend,
Whether you're feeling overwhelmed and busy in your life or in your mind or you're just looking for a little time and space to sit still and calm your energy,
Today's practice is meant to do just that.
To bring you into the present moment and to encourage a feeling of groundedness,
Allowing you to drop out of your mind and into your body right here,
Right now,
Finding a little stillness to ease your nervous system.
So no matter why you are here today,
Thanks for showing up and for allowing me to guide you.
Let's get started by coming into an upright seated position.
So feel free to lift the hips up onto a folded blanket or a pillow to create a more comfortable place to sit with a tall spine.
You can also scoot your back up against a wall to find a little support.
We just want to come into a place where we can really feel this connection between our seat in the earth or the surface beneath us while still feeling at ease in the body and we want to have a nice tall straight spine as best you can.
Take your time getting there and close your eyes as you come into position and just begin to settle into your practice.
On your next exhale,
Really exaggerate the relaxing of your shoulders down away from your ears.
Now reach the crown of your head toward the sky and envision this straight line of your spine,
Your head aligned over your heart,
Your heart aligned over your pelvis.
Begin to notice your breath.
You don't need to change your natural breath in any way,
But you may find that the simple act of bringing awareness to the breath also changes it.
So notice and allow that shift if any.
Just being with the ebb and flow of your breath here,
With the ebb and flow of thoughts floating in and out of your awareness,
Inviting your body to soften more and more with each passing moment,
Doing your best to create a sense of ease here in the body and the mind,
Softly settling into presence,
Observing.
Bring your awareness now to the tip of your tailbone,
This contact point between you and the earth beneath you.
Imagine that there is a powerful magnet here in this space.
And imagine that just beneath the earth where you are sitting,
There is a plate of metal.
Allow yourself now to feel this connection between your body and the earth,
To feel this magnetic energy,
This magnetic pull anchoring you in place,
Holding you in presence and stillness.
Notice how it feels to be connected to the earth in this way,
To be held and supported,
To be grounded,
To be still.
Notice how it feels to belong right here,
Right now,
Exactly as you are,
Exactly where you are meant to be.
Breathing in,
Breathing out.
Slowly begin to bring some small movements back into your fingers and your toes,
Inviting your awareness to come back into your body,
Allowing the vision of your magnetic connection to the earth to softly fade away.
Whenever you're ready,
Bring your hands to rest on your heart space,
Your awareness resting once more on your beautiful breath.
Take a moment to thank yourself for taking this time to ground your energy,
To be with your breath,
And to create a little space for relaxation.
It is such an honor to be still with you and to guide you in this practice.
Until next time,
Take care.
