Quick meditation to calm your mind and emotions.
Feel peace now and calm down quick.
Welcome,
I'm Nikki Sutton.
Please refrain from listening while driving or doing anything else.
Make sure you'll be undisturbed.
Dim the lights and lay or sit in a very comfortable position.
Close your eyes and follow the sound of my voice.
Here we go.
Imagine now you're sitting on a beach,
Up the beach,
Away back from the water.
You're sitting in a pleasant little wooden hut on a comfy chair.
Looking out of the doorway of the cozy hut,
You see that it's rainy,
Grey and the wind is blowing.
Hear the wind whistling around the hut.
The water,
Further away,
Is choppy and the waves are beating and splashing against the sand.
The water looks turbulent and unsettled,
And rather grey due to the weather,
But you are safe and warm in this pleasant hut.
The weather outside,
The wind,
Rain and the waves represent your emotions.
You in the hut,
Looking out,
Represents you,
Your conscious awareness.
You are the observer of your turbulent thoughts and emotions,
Stresses and strains outside.
You have a feeling now that the weather is about to improve.
Sink into your comfortable chair and observe the pleasant decor in the hut.
It's beautifully decorated,
Just the way you like.
This wooden hut gives you a very cosy and blissful feeling.
Its relaxing atmosphere is helping you to relax.
Feel tension leaving your muscles now.
As daily life just melts away.
All is well,
Everything is becoming peaceful.
You are feeling more and more relaxed.
As your body relaxes,
Your brow softens.
Your jaw releases and your shoulders sink down.
As if by magic,
The sun has come out.
All warming rays of sunshine shine in through the door and onto your face.
Notice that the wind has stopped and there's not a drop of rain to be seen.
The sun is drying the sand and it's becoming very pleasant outside and a perfect temperature.
How calm and pleasant you feel now.
What a beautiful day it's become.
Go ahead and stand up and step out of your lovely beach hut.
You have bare feet and the sand feels fine and dry beneath them.
Looking outward toward the sea,
The waves have calmed to a gentle calm lapping at the sand.
Become aware that the water is a crisp,
Radiant blue.
Your mind,
Thoughts and emotions are calm now.
The sea is still and the waves very gentle.
The atmosphere is perfect,
Still,
Calming and relaxing.
What a wonderful place.
Look down and notice a stone on the sandy beach.
It's about the size of an apple.
This stone represents anything that bothers you day to day.
Realize that if this stone is thrown into the calm blue ocean,
It will not create any ripples.
If something that bothers you meets your mind and emotions again,
It will not stir you up.
Try it out and see.
In a moment,
I'll ask you to throw the stone into the water and it will make no splash,
No ripples,
No nothing at all.
It will just plop into the water and disappear.
The ocean,
Your mind,
Will remain still and calm.
Go ahead,
Throw it in now.
Well done.
The ocean remains calm and peaceful.
All is well.
You the point of awareness are observing your thoughts and emotions as a calm sea in sunny weather.
You are not the thoughts or emotions,
But you can see them without being caught up in them anymore.
Then you can mindfully allow them to calm,
Separate from you,
The observer.
Take a deep breath in now.
And as you breathe out,
Know that you are moving forward in peacefulness,
Warmth,
Observing the beauty in life,
Just like a sunny day by the sea.
You can open your eyes when ready.
