Gassho Reiki Meditation.
Please take a seated posture with a straight yet comfortable spine in a quiet place without distraction.
Bring your palms together in front of your heart center and rest your thumbs against your breastbone.
You'll notice a space in between your palms.
Take a few mindful breaths in through the nose,
Letting the belly expand with the intake of your breath and out through the mouth.
On the in breath,
Check in with your tongue and make sure that it is touching the space behind the top two front teeth.
Take another deep cleansing breath in to the belly and let it release through the mouth.
Now bring your full awareness and attention to your hands.
Specifically the palms of your hands and the space in between your palms.
Notice the sensations here.
Notice warmth.
And bring your in breath with focus to the center of your chest.
If this is your first time or first few times doing this style of meditation,
Be gentle with yourself,
Letting go of any expectations and resting in the fact that whatever you feel or experience is exactly perfect for you at this time.
And know that the more you tune in and pay attention in the meditation to your palms and feeling the energy,
The more that this will grow.
You may even notice in your mind's eye when you put your focus in between your palms that you might see energy,
Either a ball of light or just dissipated energy there.
When your mind wanders away from this practice,
When you notice the wandering,
Gently bring your thoughts and your attention back to your palms.
Now I'd like you to listen to the five Reiki principles and as I repeat them,
Please contemplate them in your mind and heart.
Just for today,
I will not worry.
Just for today,
I will not be angry.
Just for today,
I will do my work honestly.
Just for today,
I will give thanks for my many blessings.
Just for today,
I will be kind to my neighbor and every living thing.
You may choose to bring one or all of these principles with you as you focus throughout the day.
