It's mine time.
Take some time now to just relax.
Get yourself into a comfortable position.
When you're ready,
Close your eyes.
I want you to just take some deep breaths.
Make sure your breath is going all the way down to your belly button.
Breathe the oxygen in all the way down.
Hold for a few seconds and breathe out.
It's mine time.
This is time for you now.
So just relax.
You were standing outside and it is a beautiful clear night.
You look up and you see thousands of stars scattered over the entire sky.
They're all different shapes and sizes,
But there is one in particular that grabs your attention.
As you gaze at this star,
You notice it is getting brighter and brighter.
The star that is shining the brightest tonight is purple.
This purple star is a reminder that we all have permission to change.
Do you know that you are not the same person you were two years ago?
Not the same person you were two months ago?
Or even two days ago?
Your fingernails and hair grow every single day.
And so do you.
You get older.
You learn new things.
Meet new people.
And start to look at things differently.
This gives you the power to change every single day.
Maybe you were not proud of yourself yesterday for something you said or did.
Or you feel you have not been the best version of yourself.
You,
Yes you,
Have the power to change it today.
Each and every day you have the right to be the person you would like to be.
Sometimes when we have not been our best selves,
We give people the opportunity to unfairly label us.
They may say things like,
You are lazy,
You never listen,
You are naughty,
That is so typical of you.
Sometimes this happens so often.
We start to believe what they say.
And before we know it,
We find ourselves acting this way,
Just because other people expect it from us.
But this is not being true to yourself.
You know this is not who you are.
You are making a negative impression.
Not expressing who you really are.
So how can we turn this around?
Is it too late?
Do so many people think this way of you that you can't be bothered doing anything about it?
Take charge.
You are in control of you.
And you can change if you want to.
By learning to manage our emotions and controlling our thoughts,
We can become better versions of ourselves.
The first step is to believe in yourself.
Know that you are a good person.
Do you have a negative in a dialogue?
By this I mean do you say things to yourself?
Like I can't do that.
I'm not good enough.
I'm not a nice person.
If you do this,
Stop it.
Stop it now.
Ask yourself,
What things,
If any,
Do I need to change?
It could be your diet,
Your lifestyle,
The people you surround yourself with,
Or the way in which you spend your time.
Are these things empowering you?
Or are they letting you down?
Be your own best friend.
After all,
The one person you will always be with is you.
What wonderful qualities do you possess?
Celebrate them.
Enjoy them.
Start to enjoy the person you spend all your time with.
Start to enjoy you.
Allow others to get to know the real you.
What do you like?
What are you interested in?
What are you good at?
What do you need help with?
Don't be afraid to ask for help.
It takes strength and courage to do so.
Bad days will happen,
This is certain.
But bad days do not define who you are.
Accept the bad.
Apologize if necessary.
Seek forgiveness.
And give forgiveness to others.
Bad days happen to everyone.
And they provide us with an opportunity to grow and learn.
They provide us with an opportunity to change.
The power of change is in your thoughts,
In your emotions,
In your mood and in your actions.
You are responsible.
You are in control.
Take patience and allow yourself time for the process of change to occur.
Set daily goals.
And celebrate your achievements.
Change is not instant but it will happen if you make it.
I have always liked the quote.
If you haven't spoken to me today,
Allow me to reintroduce myself.
Every day you can become the best version of yourself.
The person you would like to be.
And the amazing person you know you are deep inside.
What labels have been put on you lately that you do not like?
What labels have you put on others?
Your parents?
Your teachers?
Are you giving them a space where they can change?
Reflect on this now.
Great.
I hope you learnt a little more about yourself through this exercise.
Doesn't it feel wonderful to know that there is always an opportunity to change ourselves for the better?
If we choose to.
It's your decision now.
And you know what's right for you.
Think what?
