Taking a deep breath in,

Ask yourself,

Is this water mine or theirs?

Feel sensations that surface,

Heat,

Tightness,

An urge to rescue or to withdraw.

Instead of stepping in,

Watch each sensation drift by like fallen leaves.

Acknowledge to yourself,

This is a moment of relational feedback.

I can observe without entering the stream.

Lengthen your spine,

Widen your peripheral vision,

Hear the steady hush of water.

With each exhale,

Release the leaves downstream,

Keeping only what belongs to your own riverbank.

Turn gently back to the therapeutic task of presence and spaciousness.

Breathe deeply.

Release completely.
