Hi,
I'm Megan.
I'm here today with a meditation that is all about finding calm within the storm.
Too often,
It's easy to feel completely adrift in the storms that are swirling around us.
And with most of the world completely swept off of its feet and the face of our global pandemic,
The sense of losing control is stronger than ever.
So it's so important for all beings to find safety when and where they can,
Which includes finding a safe harbor within ourselves that we can return to when the storms that rage around us become unmanageable.
So this meditation helps build a sense of protection and safety within yourself,
No matter what is happening around you.
Whether it is COVID-19,
A loss,
A birth,
A move,
Or any other kind of change in your life.
The sense of inner safety will help you take control of the things for which you do have control,
Your actions,
Your words,
Your thoughts,
Emotions,
And it'll help you keep yourself and others safe in an ever-changing world.
So to start,
Find a comfortable position.
Be seated or laying down,
Close your eyes and find your breath.
Where is your breath currently living in your body?
Notice the quality of your breath without judgment and without trying to change it.
Notice the sensation of the in-breath and the out-breath.
Is it light or heavy,
Long or short,
Locked or free?
Simply take note of how the breath feels to you in your body.
Now visualize yourself sitting on a warm,
Sandy beach.
There's nobody else around you.
It's just you,
The sand,
The waves,
The sky,
And the sun.
As you visualize yourself on this beach,
Feel the warmth of the sand as it seeps into your skin.
Feel the cooling breeze as it sweeps across your face and your body.
And as you lay there,
Soaking in the nurturing sun and wind,
You start to notice in the distance an approaching dark cloud.
It seems far off at first,
This dark cloud.
And as you continue to sink into the warmth of the sand around you,
You quietly observe the cloud.
And as you observe the cloud,
You notice that it is slowly approaching the beach where you lay.
As the cloud draws closer,
You can see it is not just one cloud,
But many.
As they approach,
The clouds begin to obscure the sun.
The breeze picks up in speed and turns into a wind,
Blowing on your face and your skin.
You start to feel tiny droplets of rain as they kiss your nose,
Your cheeks,
Chin,
Shoulders,
Arms,
Belly,
Legs,
And feet.
The clouds become darker and are now just a few miles away.
In those clouds,
You notice the bright flash of lightning.
The storm is here.
Still laying quietly in the sand,
You notice a bright golden light growing gently from your solar plexus,
That area just below the sternum and just above the navel center.
As the storm draws ever closer,
That golden light begins to pulse and grow.
With every breath in,
The light gains luminosity and glows even brighter.
With every exhale,
The light grows in size.
Inhale,
The light grows brighter.
Exhale,
The light grows larger.
Inhale,
Brighter.
Exhale,
Larger.
And as you breathe,
This light continues to grow in its luminosity and size until it completely encapsulates the entirety of your being with a warm,
Golden protective orb of light.
The storm is now directly over where you lay.
And where you lay,
You are protected by your golden orb of light.
As you look around yourself,
You notice that outside of this golden orb,
The sand is soaked with rainwater and the waves are whipping at the shore.
And yet,
Here you lie,
Protected by the warm light of your own creation.
No rain getting in,
No wind whipping your hair.
You are dry,
Safe,
And warm under your glowing golden umbrella of light.
And now the storm drifts along.
Suddenly the rain turns to a drizzle.
The waves begin to calm and the howling of the wind becomes just a whisper.
The storm begins to amble its way further down the shore and those dark clouds overhead begin to break apart.
And as they do,
Sunlight streams through the openings and adds energy and light to your already beautiful glowing golden orb.
Now the storm is disappeared and the beach is once again calm.
Slowly and intentionally,
You begin to draw the golden light back in towards your solar plexus.
Inhale through the nose,
You bring a small amount of light into the body.
And as you exhale through the mouth,
You send that golden light into every cell of your body.
Inhale bring the light in.
Exhale send the energy into your body.
Inhale bring it in.
Exhale energize the body.
Continue this for a few more breaths until you have completely integrated the healing golden light into every corner and every cell of your being.
As you feel the energy of this golden light pulsating throughout your body,
Know that this beautiful protective light is available to you wherever you go.
Whatever storm you face,
You can cast this golden light of protection around your mind and your heart to shield you from the rain,
The wind,
And the waves.
Now find your breath once more.
Notice how it's changed,
If at all,
From the beginning of this meditation.
Feel the sensation of the inhale and the exhale.
And notice once more where the breath is living in your body right now.
Bring your palms together,
Meeting at the solar plexus center just below the sternum.
Rub your palms together to create heat.
And once you've created enough heat,
Place your hands over any part of your body that requires extra nurturance or warmth.
Slowly blink your eyes open.
