Join me today for a short body scan meditation to achieve calmness of mind and a heightened awareness of yourself as well as your surroundings.
We begin by lying down comfortably on the ground and gently start to deepen our breath.
With every inhale,
Feel your upper body expand and with every exhale,
Feel it slowly contract again.
While you continue to breathe gently,
Imagine a pool of brightly shining golden water swirling gently at your feet.
With your next deep inhale,
Invite the softly moving water to flow in through the soles of your feet and feel a gentle warmth spread wherever the water touches.
Imagine the water's gentle sway back and forth in tune with your breathing while it slowly makes its way further upwards with every inhale.
Feel it flow through your ankles,
Upwards and past your knees.
You can feel your legs becoming comfortably warm and cosy as the water reaches your hips and travels further up through your lower back.
Every inhale pulls the water gently further up your back and into your shoulders where it slowly divides and starts to flow down each of your arms.
It ebbs and flows past your elbows and your wrists before filling up every single one of your fingers.
Feel the warmth and the comfort created by the water in your legs,
Your whole upper body and your arms.
The water gently continues its way up through your neck and into your headspace,
Filling you up completely with warmth and a comfortable sense of calmness.
Continue to breathe here and let your mind settle in this little calm space you've created for yourself.
Slowly begin to deepen your breath and let the water drain away gently,
Leaving you with its warmth and calming clarity.
Start to gently move your fingers and toes before batting your eyelashes open.
