Transcript

This guided meditation is designed to encourage better connection to our food,

Better digestion and assimilation.

So to begin,

Either sit down with your plate of food or you'll be imagining your plate of food that you will be eating later.

Take a moment to sit if you are not already and become aware of your body.

This vehicle through which we experience our life.

Find the length to your spine,

Feel the surface of your skin and feel the vibration of your energy body.

Become aware of your breath as you allow a moment to simply be with each inhale and each exhale.

Notice the nourishment that comes from the inhalation and your ability to let go of stress with your exhalation.

Just stay with this for a couple more breaths.

Nourishing inhales bringing light and awareness and detoxifying exhales releasing any agitation in the mind and the body.

Becoming very present to yourself.

Bring your awareness and your attention to your stomach and your appetite.

Notice your mouth and the saliva in your mouth and now imagine the food that you are intending to eat or open your eyes and physically look at the food in front of you.

Noticing every detail,

Taking the colors on your plate,

The smell of the food.

Notice how your body responds as you tune into that felt experience in your body in relationship to the food.

Your stomach,

Your saliva glands,

Feel the connection between your body and the food and take in this moment the space to reflect that soon there will be no separation between you and this food.

Soon your body will be digesting,

The cell walls will be breaking down and your body will be drawing from that food the nourishment for every cell of your being.

In that moment the food will become you.

So come into a space of gratitude for the creation of this food now.

All of the elements that make up this food.

The earth,

The water,

The air,

The space that made it,

The fire.

Gratitude for the farmers who tended to this food and for all of those that are responsible for getting this food right here,

Right now to your plate.

May this food bring you strength and vitality.

May it nourish every cell of your body and may you in turn nourish all of those that come into contact with you.

Now repeat after me either out loud or mentally affirming.

I am grateful for this moment.

I am grateful for this life.

I am grateful for this food that nourishes me.

I am grateful for my ability to turn this food into nourishment and I am grateful for the energy that I will then use to serve others.

Close your eyes now and allow yourself to be.

Absorbing that whole witnessing process with the food and allowing a moment to relate in this way and understand the power of the practice of eating,

Digesting and assimilating and then serving with that energy that comes to you from the food.

So often we eat unconsciously.

We eat when we feel emotional.

We eat to distract ourselves.

We eat unhealthy food.

But when we take a moment and we practice to become present to the wonder,

To the miracle of this life,

Of this body and we allow ourselves time to make a conscious connection.

To understand food as energy.

Food as pure nourishment.

Food as a way to receive the loving power of the universe.

Now our relationship with food becomes sustainable.

It becomes one of love.
