
Progressive Muscle Relaxation For Tension Relief
Progressive Muscle Relaxation (PMR) is a stress relief practice proven to assist with tense muscles, stress, anxiety and chronic pain. During this exercise, you will tighten and relax muscles to help your body let go of tension. If you have an injury, gently acknowledge that part of your body without tensing it. With practice, PMR can help with tension headaches, migraine, TMJ, neck pain, insomnia, back pain and anxiety. While not a substitute for medical care, this practice has been inspired by the work of Edmund Jacobson, Joseph Wolpe and Herbert Benson--all of whom are medical doctors.
