Hello,
And thank you so much for joining me for this Mind the Pain Mindfulness Meditation,
Aimed at reducing the stress,
Pain,
And anxiety caused by endometriosis.
When you're ready,
I invite you to close your eyes or keep an unfocused gaze in front of you,
Whichever you prefer.
Sitting up straight or lying down,
Your head,
Shoulders,
Belly,
And full body slowly starting to relax.
We'll start with two deep belly breaths to allow us to fully slow down and arrive here in the stillness.
So when you're ready,
Just a deep breath in through the nose,
An extra quick inhale,
And a deep exhale out.
One more time,
Deep breath in through the nose,
An extra quick inhale,
And a deep exhale out.
Nicely done.
Sometimes,
As much as we try to avoid it,
Stress just has a way of finding us,
And it's so easy to get pulled into its dance.
Endo-warriors can also be much more vulnerable to stress because of our pain.
And incidentally,
Our stress also causes or increases our pain.
A truly cruel way to live some days.
So let's take this moment to get you feeling safe and stress-empty,
Not stressful.
Feeling the body completely loose and relaxed.
First,
Just tune into your big toes,
Feel the tingling of their energy,
And just witness them.
Breathe into the sensation and allow the feeling to travel through your feet and slowly up and then down your entire body,
Releasing all tension it encounters.
Feel your body loosen and let go,
And the soothing sensations that follow.
Keeping the deep breaths going,
If you feel comfortable doing so.
We're just going to gently tune into what's been causing us stress or anxiety.
It could be fears about our journey with our endo.
Maybe something at work.
Or something else we're dreading.
Like a difficult situation with someone.
And since the brain doesn't know the difference between real and imagined experiences,
We're going to use this to our advantage.
And imagine whatever we're worried about going well.
As hard as this can be to do,
Studies show that this can help us feel calm and relaxed.
And make facing that moment so much easier to bear.
So if you're okay with it,
Just visualize yourself tackling the thing you're afraid of.
Gently picture every detail of the future situation.
What you're wearing.
How you're sitting or standing.
How you're speaking.
And just see it going well.
Feel the relaxation in your body as you confidently tackle this hurdle.
Without issue.
Without fear.
See yourself in that moment.
Absolutely killing it.
Proving why we call you a warrior.
Witnessing yourself getting your way for once.
Making things happen for you.
Without worry.
And we'll just gently pull back from the moment.
And bring ourselves back to the present.
By taking a deep breath in through the nose.
And a nice,
Slow exhale through the mouth.
One more time.
Deep breath in through the nose.
And a nice,
Slow exhale through the mouth.
We'll wiggle the fingers and toes.
Give ourselves a nice stretch.
And when you're ready,
Gently open your eyes.
I can't emphasize enough that there's nothing you can't handle,
Warrior.
Whatever's got you in doubt,
Just release it.
And know that you're going to absolutely nail it.
Now go on,
Warrior.
You've got this.
