This meditation is exactly five minutes long.
It's for those who are beginning to learn about meditation and want to start small or those times when we just have five minutes and want to get centered.
Let's begin with the breath.
Breathing in and breathing out,
Just naturally breathing in,
Breathing out,
Allowing ourselves to feel with every breath the feeling of centering that can come as we just breathe in.
Feel free to have your eyes open or closed if they're open just focused someplace as we focus on the breath.
And with each breath let's become more and more calm and centered and imagine an energy of light.
Maybe it's a golden light or a white light just at the top of the head just touching the scalp and as it does imagine that that light is matching the breath and as it begins to move over the top of our head we feel that same centering that we're feeling by just breathing beginning to inhabit and move over the body and then it moves down to the forehead and with each breath the forehead is more relaxed to the eyes as the eyes relax continuing to breathe and continuing to see this light moving down into the face and the jaw and the whole head and the back of the neck.
With each breath it continues down moving into the shoulders down our arms into our hands into the chest area down through the whole trunk of the body and all the internal organs down into our legs through the knees and the calves and into the feet till it moves completely into the toes.
Not only we breathe now and feel this relaxation we've envisioned our whole body filled with this relaxing breath and it's here then in this state of stillness that we feel ourselves setting an intention for our day.
It might be to move through our day as calm as we feel right now.
It might be to communicate clearly.
It might be to be productive.
It might be to do something wonderful and joyful or to be still as we do something that's difficult.
Let's just feel ourselves setting an intention.
It could be one word or a sentence and as that intention arises from the depth of us we literally breathe it in and breathe it out.
As we breathe it in we breathe that intention to every cell of our body to every organ through every muscle to every bit of bone and tissue to our skin to every aspect of us.
It begins to inhabit us.
This intention is now breathed in and breathed out and is a part of us.
It's not just in our head or in our heart it's in every part of us and we are the living walking intention that has arisen knowing that we're about to step out into our day or into what's next and we're doing so calm and intentionally.
What a joy it is to know this and so with the breath we begin now to return ourselves to our conscious awareness giving thanks for this time that we have had to be still to relax to set an intention and to step forward into the day ahead into the next steps.
We are blessed and so we breathe again a deep breath and feel our eyes opening if they've been closed or feel our awareness come fully back into the now moment look at our surroundings and step fully now into the moments ahead.
Thanks for taking this time to be still to meditate it matters it makes a difference we let it be we let it go and so it is.
