Close your eyes and begin to settle into a comfortable position and allow your breath and your body to soften.
You could take a slow inhale through your nose and exhale long through your mouth.
Now bring your attention to your heart center,
Allowing it to be quiet and relaxed perhaps in the middle of your chest,
Consciously releasing that area of your body.
Perhaps imagine that this space is gently opening,
Almost like a gentle light is turning on from within you.
And then silently or aloud,
You may want to offer this intention.
May I become an instrument of peace.
And with each inhale,
Imagine peace flowing into you.
Not something you have to create,
But just something that you're willing to receive.
Breathing in peace.
Breathing out peace.
Letting a sense of calmness fill your chest,
Stomach region,
And your whole being.
Perhaps letting it flow both directions,
Up and down.
With each exhale,
Imagine this peace flowing through you,
Out through your hands,
Radiating out from your heart,
Simply allowing peace to move through you.
And if any sensation arises within you,
Perhaps a thought or any sense of tension,
Any unrest at all,
Just gently direct the intention of peace.
If perhaps any conflict or any difficulty arises,
Just quietly offer peace,
Allowing it to flow through.
If faces of others appear,
Friends,
Strangers,
Rest in the knowing that peace is effortless.
It doesn't require more effort,
Just availability,
Just openness.
Almost like you're a flute being played in the hands of the beloved,
Or being played with the essence of spirit.
Allow yourself to be played with peace,
An instrument of peace.
So now if you feel called to sit for a few moments in silence,
Breathing,
Receiving,
Knowing,
And when you're ready,
Perhaps carry this quiet intention with you.
Wherever I go,
May peace,
Joy,
Light,
And a resonance of compassion and kindness go with me.
I am an instrument of peace.
