Oh,

Don't touch your face.

So,

One of the things that's changing are opposites are starting to come into play.

The famous meditation book by Sylvia Bornstein where she says,

Don't just do something,

Sit there,

Is becoming almost a mantra.

Become a couch potato.

I mean,

Help everybody out,

Help yourself.

So,

My addition to the helpful suggestions is sit on your hands.

Actually,

Instead of the usual adage of,

Do something,

Don't just sit on your hands.

So,

Take your hands,

Put them underneath your butt,

And sit on them.

Now,

What's that going to do for you?

Actually,

If you're sitting on your hands,

You cannot touch your face.

So,

I want you to sit there,

And we're going to do a little meditation,

Until your face starts to itch.

Your nose,

Your ears,

Your eyes,

Your forehead,

Your cheeks.

It's just going to start in a moment.

So,

Close your eyes if you're not driving.

Begin with a nice deep breath.

And out.

And now we're just going to sit,

Maybe for five seconds,

Maybe for a minute.

But,

I guarantee your face is going to start to itch.

Just think about it.

Your ears,

Your nose,

Around your eyes.

Right now my chin is starting just on the left side towards the front.

It's starting to build up.

It's like the old story from Tom Sawyer,

Huckleberry Finn,

When they were sitting in the bushes waiting to see what happened with the problem that was going on in the log cabin.

And they couldn't make a sound because the attacker in the cabin would come after them.

And I think it was Huckleberry Finn that said his whole body was itching.

Just like your face.

But don't let your hands move.

Sit on your hands.

Practice sitting on your hands and withstand the itch,

Withstand the feeling that you want to scratch it.

Just let it be there.

It'll disappear.

It comes and goes like clouds passing through the sky.

And then later on during the day,

When you automatically start to raise your hand up to scratch and itch automatically,

You'll remember.

Sit on your hands.

It'll be very helpful for you.

I wish you only good health and happiness.

I love the serious-yet-quirky tone, humor to address a very real and important health and safety issue. The audio recording itself is not the best quality - perhaps recorded on a smartphone, with a bit of hollowness present - but the chirping birds and lack of distracting noise in the background still makes this easily heard and understood. Thank you for sharing this practice and tip with us here. I have saved this to play repeatedly to reinforce this lesson in my mind until it becomes a true natural habit. Thank you again. I see you and the light within you. Be well. 🀲🏻❀️🀲🏻

Oh, this is so awesome and so very hard! So many itchy places all over my body. And what happened as soon as the meditation was over? I put my hand out to pick up my stylus so I could write this... and my hand stopped to scratch even before I could set stylus to phone! At least it was my elbow, not my face, but still. This is a great way to work on mindfulness & focus and stay physically healthy at the same time.
