Hi there.
You know,
Some days it feels effortless to be thankful.
And other times,
Gratitude feels far away,
Hidden behind layers of stress or frustration or fatigue.
And that's okay.
Gratitude isn't about forcing positivity.
It's just about noticing what's already here,
Often quietly waiting to be seen.
So let's practice now by just taking a moment to settle into your breath.
Feel the gentle rise and fall of your chest.
Inhale deeply and exhale slowly.
And as you breathe,
Just invite your mind to soften.
And you can let your attention turn to something,
Anything that feels nourishing.
It could be a person,
Maybe a memory,
A sensation even,
Just the warmth of the air on your skin.
Whatever it is,
Just pause here for a few breaths.
Let that feeling of appreciation expand naturally.
And if distractions arise,
That's okay.
It's actually perfectly natural.
You can gently guide your focus back,
Not with any judgment,
But with kindness.
Gratitude doesn't have to be grand.
It lives in the small ordinary moments.
A smile from a mirror,
A song that lifts your spirits,
The comfort of your favorite sweater.
You just let yourself sink into these simple blessings,
Allowing each one to gently fill you up from the inside out.
And as you sit with that feeling,
Can you notice how gratitude shifts your experience?
How it invites a little more ease into your mind,
A little more warmth into your heart.
Just let that linger a little bit longer.
Keep breathing in and out,
And out.
As Thich Nhat Hanh reminds us,
Walk as if you are kissing the earth with your feet.
In each small step,
Every single breath,
We are offered countless reasons to give thanks,
If we're willing to notice.
As you breathe,
You can repeat this in your mind.
Breathing in,
I breathe in gratitude.
Breathing out,
I send out gratitude.
Breathing in gratitude.
Breathing out gratitude.
And now,
When you're ready,
Bring a little movement back to your body.
Bring your awareness back to the space around you.
And just see if you can carry that quiet thankfulness with you into your day ahead.
May you be happy.
May you be healthy.
And may you be at peace.
Thank you so much for joining me.
