Welcome to Meditation Tides with Michelle Sanctuary.

You're listening to Oh Well,

A 5-minute meditation to embrace stoicism and give yourself the gift of detachment.

By becoming an observer in this practice,

You may find empowerment.

You may find the grace to navigate situations beyond your control.

My voice will guide you to calm shores where you can approach your day with a sense of peace and trust.

I'm Michelle,

And you may think of me as a dear friend,

Here to help you step away and tend to your inner world.

This is your sanctuary,

Where you deserve a break from the outside world.

Take a moment to exhale with a sigh,

Releasing any lingering thoughts or concerns.

Feel them drift away as you savor this moment just for you.

As you do,

Whisper to yourself,

Oh well.

Now slowly inhale,

Taking in the promise of a new moment.

With each breath,

You have the opportunity to shift your perspective.

Consider how many breaths away are you from feeling your absolute best.

Rest assured,

This breath brings you closer.

Exhale with a sigh,

Releasing tension as it melts away.

Continue breathing in and out at your preferred pace.

With each inhale,

Expand to your fullest capacity,

Claiming all the space that is yours.

With each exhale,

Surrender to what cannot be changed.

Conserve your energy for what you can control.

Let this simple phrase,

Oh well,

Gently anchor you.

Oh well has been a self-soothing phrase for centuries,

Creating space for acceptance.

Today,

Try it on as if it were a new piece of clothing.

See how it fits.

Saying,

Oh well,

Doesn't mean you don't care.

It means you accept what is beyond your control.

Notice how easily that acceptance comes when you detach and breathe,

Oh well.

Saying,

Oh well,

Isn't about giving up.

It's about protecting your peace and well-being.

You've poured energy into situations,

But you've grown to a point where your inner peace is your priority.

Now visualize yourself as an observer in a situation that might disrupt your day.

As if watching a film,

See yourself disengaging from the drama,

Stepping away effortlessly as you whisper,

Oh well.

Notice how effortlessly you pause,

Reclaiming your peace.

Throughout the day,

When something doesn't align with your intentions for serenity,

Remember that you can always feel more in control by focusing on the tides of your breath.

As you say to yourself,

Oh well.

Now gently return to the present moment with an open heart and mind.

Wiggle your fingers and toes.

Flutter your eyes open when it feels right.

Thank you for sharing this time with me.

Until next time,

This is Michelle and I wish you peace and support throughout your day.

Thank you, Michelle! I never thought of “Oh, well,” as something so native and timeless in humans, but I can certainly attest to using it reflexively, especially when people around me are going nuts about something ridiculous! Thanks for putting it in perspective and raising the utterance to rightful recognition in human self-communication! This meditation is going to make me smile all day! Donna

Love this. I thought 5 minutes wouldn’t be long enough but it was perfect. Everything you said was making me nod my head. So true. Just need a reminder.
