In all my years as a cognitive psychotherapist working with clients with stress.
I have found just one common denominator amongst them.
And that is the fact that it only happens to strong people.
Stress only happens to strong people.
And strong people come in all ages and all branches.
So that's the common denominator.
People who are very good people who are very determined to be the best they can be to live up to expectations and to be strong enough to also overrule.
Physical symptoms because they want to.
Achieve things or Live up to what's expected from them.
But the thing with.
.
.
Strong people is that we all have our limit.
Even the world's strongest man,
He can lift around 500 kilos.
If just one tiny bird lands on this He will break.
We all have.
Our limits.
So.
.
.
There's nothing wrong with being strong.
And I've been there twice myself with stress and I consider myself a strong person.
But if we are doing the duck.
So the duck is sliding through water on the surface everything is calm but underneath it's pedaling like a mad And that's what a lot of us do.
And that doesn't work on the long run.
So if you recognize some of this in yourself,
Then you need to pay attention to it.
And if you doubt.
.
.
Could that be about me?
Then I'll give you another example.
So if we had.
A studio of a hundred random people who watched a summary of the last month of your life.
They were sitting there watching it.
How would they characterize your life?
Would they be,
Oh,
This is calm,
This is peaceful,
I can do this.
Or would they be,
Ah,
This is a bit stressful.
Like,
When does this person relax?
Or is it like a thriller they're watching?
So that's also a way of helping you to see where am I in my life right now.
Would it be a good idea to think about recovery once in a while?
Not adding to the calendar,
But taking out.
Doing a bit of mindfulness exercises.
Just simple ones like breathing in,
Counting on four,
And breathing out,
Counting on four.
That can be done while you're lifting,
While you're paddling,
While you're at the movies.
That would be a really good idea to start implementing small things like this if you can't.
Take a real break.
Right now.
So I hope this was useful to you.
