Self-compassion is not self-pity or selfishness. Self-compassion is the act of offering ourselves the same care and compassion we give to others. Giving ourselves grace isn't always easy but self-compassion meditation helps us to practice making it into a habit.

Hello and welcome to this guided meditation for self-compassion.

My name is Melissa and I will be your guide.

Let's take a moment to pause,

To tune into our experience with presence,

Curiosity and self-compassion.

I invite you to begin by coming to a comfortable seated position.

Allow your spine to lengthen by slightly tucking your chin towards your chest.

Letting your shoulders and your arms rest comfortably by your side or maybe your hands are in your lap.

Then take a moment to connect with the surface beneath you to help you ground yourself into this practice.

Once you feel grounded,

Turn your attention towards your breath and let a few cleansing breaths move through you.

Breathing in through the nose deeply and then forcing the air out in the exhale.

Take as many as you need.

When you're ready,

Let your natural breath resume and take a moment to connect with your heart by bringing your palm of your hand to your chest.

As you breathe,

Feel your hand rising and falling as the chest expands and softens.

See if you can connect with this part of yourself with loving,

Tender presence.

As if you could send yourself care through the palm of your hand directly into your heart.

Whatever you are going through in this moment,

Know that your experience is entirely human.

Every emotion,

Every experience,

Everything that we go through is a part of our humanity.

Take a moment to honour your human experience with care,

Warmth and curiosity.

This is a moment of struggle.

And struggle is a part of our lives.

May you offer some kindness to yourself with the following affirmations.

May I be kind to myself.

May I be able to give myself what I need.

May I accept myself as I am.

May I forgive myself for all the things I have said or done that I perceive as wrong or bad.

May I please be patient with myself.

May I offer myself love daily.

May I love myself unconditionally.

May I speak to myself as if I were my own best friend.

May you offer some kindness to yourself with the following affirmations.

May I be kind to myself.

May I be able to give myself what I need.

May I accept all parts of myself as I am.

May I forgive myself for anything I may have said or done that I perceived as wrong or bad.

May I be patient with myself.

May I love myself.

May I accept all past versions of myself.

May I offer myself love.

May I speak to myself as if I were my own best friend.

Slowly draw a deep breath in through your nose.

And gently open your eyes as you exhale.

Allow yourself to take in the sounds,

The smells,

And the sights around you.

Letting your awareness expand past yourself and taking in the space around you.

Please take care of yourself as you continue to move through your day.

With love and compassion for yourself and for others.

Thank you for allowing me to guide you.

Much love.
