Happy Earth Day.
Thank you for joining me in this Earth Day guided meditation.
A meditation to honor our Mother Earth.
If you'd like to go ahead and get yourself into a comfortable position.
Take a slow deep breath in and then gently exhale.
Allow your body to soften.
Allow your heart to open and begin to quiet the mind.
Feel yourself fully arriving in this moment.
Present,
Peaceful and held by the ancient loving presence of Mother Earth.
With your next breath,
Imagine the ground beneath you as a living breathing being.
Feel her steady heartbeat beneath your body.
Feel and let her support cradle you here.
With each exhale,
Allow yourself to release anything that is heavy or tense feeling in your body and offer it back to her for transmission with gratitude.
And now if you can,
Envision yourself standing barefoot upon the sacred earth.
Feel the beneath your feet,
The warm soil,
The tender blades of grass,
The grounding strength of the stones than the hard earth.
Picture your feet walking along the earth,
Connecting you deeply with her wisdom.
Just like a tree,
You are rooted,
Steady,
Centered and supported.
You are a part of her.
With each breath in,
Draw in that nourishing life force that Mother Earth is offering.
Feel her energy rising through your feet,
Filling your legs,
Your hips,
Your heart and your entire being.
And with each breath out,
Release any tension,
Stress or worry,
Letting the earth lovingly transform it.
Can you imagine that you have roots extending from the soles of your feet?
Strong and ancient,
They travel deep into the layers of the soil and the stone,
Deeper still until they reach the glowing heart of the earth.
Here at her core,
Can you feel the vibrant pulse of pure life energy?
With every inhale,
Begin to draw the sacred energy upward and into your body.
And with every exhale,
Offer back peace,
Gratitude and respect.
Now with your body grounded and your spirit open,
Begin to visualize the vibrant beauty of earth.
See the greens of the forests,
The blues of the waters,
The warm gold glow of sunlight.
Can you feel the warmth of the sun as it kisses your skin,
Blessing you with vitality?
And as you breathe out,
Let your breath carry a prayer of gratitude to Mother Earth.
Gratitude for the air she provides that sustains you.
Gratitude for the food she provides that nourishes you.
Gratitude for the water that she provides that purifies you.
Envision yourself standing in a vast ancient forest.
Can you feel the presence of the wisdom from the old trees that surround you,
Their branches offering protection and guidance?
Hear the whispers of the wind through the leaves,
The birds singing,
Echoing like sacred chants,
And the flowing of the water from a nearby stream.
Let all of these natural sounds remind you of the living symphony that is earth.
As you continue to breathe,
Reflect on the ways Mother Earth gives endlessly to all beings.
The forests that gift the oxygen for you to breathe,
The oceans,
The tides,
The soil that nourishes every growing thing.
And then feel yourself as being part of this great web of life,
Interwoven and interconnected,
Cherished and loved and appreciated.
Let the love and gratitude flow between you and the earth.
You are not separate from her.
You are a child of the earth,
Made of her waters,
Nourished by her soil,
And shaped by her rhythms.
You too flow in cycles.
Take a deep breath in,
Feeling her life force fill every cell in your body.
And as you exhale,
Release anything that no longer serves you.
Feel your body soften and allow your spirit to brighten.
Now imagine yourself in your favorite natural place.
This might be beside a flowing river,
Beneath a towering tree,
At the ocean's edge,
Or on a mountain peak.
Feel the peace of the sacred place that you long to be.
Allow it to fill your heart with calm,
Joy,
And belonging.
Gently reflect on the ways that you could give back to this Mother Earth,
Through kindness,
Through mindful living,
Protection of nature,
Or by simply honoring her with presence and gratitude.
Know that every small act of love ripples outward,
Nourishing the planet and all her beings.
Take a moment now to envision the earth whole from above,
Her swirling blue,
Greens,
Browns,
And whites.
Feel your heart expand with this profound gratitude for the love of living on this sacred planet,
This special,
Special place.
Breathe in this gratitude deeply,
And as you exhale,
Send your love,
Respect,
And blessings back to Mother Earth.
Take one final deep,
Deep breath in,
And then exhale slowly,
Offering a silent thank you.
Slowly begin to return back to the present moment.
Wiggle your fingers and your toes,
Gently move your body,
And then when you feel ready,
Opening your eyes and carrying with you the peace,
Wisdom,
And loving energy of Mother Earth today.
